How likely do you think that ETWs will be laid off? haven't been at Nike long enough to go though one of these layoffs before, & trying to figure out how prepared I should be- despite whatever my management says about me being "valued"

Yeah, it's funny. I worked as an ETW on an ops team and we were always the redheaded stepchildren of our org. I went through a couple rounds of layoffs where FTE after FTE got shown the door, but we were always spared. I like to think they realized our value, but they probably just forgot to lay us all off.
nike hires etw's to do work they're uninterested in doing. plus etw's cost nike much less - nike full medical benefits and employee discounts and retirement funds and stock options don't come cheap!
I think it depends on your org & function, and anyway, anything is possible. A dear friend of mine (black badge for ten years now) was ETW for the 2009 layoffs and knew he was safe so skated right through.
being a contractor on any team, at any level helps you. nike saves money vs an FTE at your spot. this has been their MO for 10+ years now. weed out long-tenured FTEs
Who says ETW works more! i have some example in my team. They do nothing..takes simple work and spend weeks and weeks.
i am an ETW too but some ETW's are too much. they should get fired too.
Everyone knows that ETWs are the people who actually get the work done...and you don’t “count” in the headcount stats...so my bet is you’re pretty safe.
Depends. If you're working on something the org is planning on moving away from you'll probably be out of a job. Otherwise, you might make it (I managed to survive 3 rounds of layoffs this way). You might feel unvalued as a person, being an ETW, but that might work in your favor because it's your work that Nike values.
