Recognized once by a GM. Manager was so jealous he retaliated against me, gave me a falsified performance review, actively blocked a promotion and a stretch assignment, and refused to evaluate a pay raise despite me being paid below .7 PMR. Almost left IBM over it but GM begged me to stay, said I was on a growth trajectory blah blah. Got moved to a new team. Haven’t spoken to manager in 6 months. Asked him for help with something a while back and he just stopped attending regular catch up calls I had set up.
You’re damn right IBM HR needs to read this thread. I would love to share my experience if I could only get a hold of someone in the US who gave a hoot. It appears their public posturing about “diversity” is all for show.

Nope. You have to scream your net worth to keep your job. Doing a great job for customers or partners isn't enough. So much for management saying "I've been watching you and you are a great asset to the team".

I got a rock also. And a misspelled bit of engraved glass on a stand.

IBM is sh–. Sorry IBM Security in UK is sh– and run so poorly. No rewards, management least interested in solving problems but most happy to pass the buck to someone else. Let the poor guy work himself to his grave and when something fails just put it on the poor guy saying he couldn’t survive. But management won’t take any responsibility themselves. Bloody losers!

If you do not work in a commission or bonus-based business you get nothing.

I was recognized twice by direct management and once by my BUE in Q2. Thousands of blue points and a five figure bonus all told.

There are two IBMs right now.

I heard some employees in GTS got a Quarterly Variable Bonus. Does anyone know how that works? I cannot find anything on W3 explaining.

Over 95% annual utilization at GBS for last 7 years - minimal bonuses and occasional tap on the shoulder. RA'd in June.

Like others, I got a little "attaboy" in the form of recognition & BluePoints. Funny thing is, it came _right_ at the end of June. I'm sure my manager got a little automated email saying "it's been X months and you've given only Y recognition"

Better than a poke in the eye, I guess.

BUT...

If you're talking bonuses or raises (beyond the cost of living increases), I haven't seen any of those in many, MANY years.

Do you mean "recognized" like

  • getting a printed and signed piece of paper saying "Good job"? Check.
  • having my name included in a quarterly ppt deck presented in one of the countless meetings? Check.
  • getting known as a person who is willing to do actual work and therefore given more work as a reward? Check.

But if you mean tangible rewards like bonuses, not really.

I was recognized alright. They recognized my name on a layoff list and moved it to the top. Other than that, no, no bonuses worth mentioning during my time there.

I got a pretty big bonus, but I exceeded sales targets. If you don't want to get laid off, don't be part of overhead, and make a company money in a way that's crystal clear on the balance sheet, easy peasy.
