All - no comment here but be careful as this can be anyone posting. There is no way to confirm if CBS is posting, I would doubt that they are taking position on an issue that they haven't investigated yet.

In short, this is likely a hoax.

On the other hand, just to make sure we are on the same page, here are some of my comments:

  • In this time of turmoil, our management came across as weak and self-centered
  • There is no respect for the worker even though corporate communication is littered with 'respect for the individual' and 'our people are our most important asset'
  • Allstate should replace most of the C-Level lineup with folks who have vision and care about the company/worker/customer and not only their self-interest

Thanks.

The execs also refer to the front line/entry level employees as "grunts".

Ty if see this is serious journalist inquiry.

Look into : “ I think the overall train wreck of it. From slurring Tom (drunk or not he sounded inept), "the blacks" and "the browns" which got backlash on Allstate's own group discussion boards”

Take a look at how this company’s leadership refers to its employees and how it treats them. I’m quoting another post that referred to a now disappeared teleconference to employees. This is not my post.

Plus, look at the new earnings for Allstate over the last several years. It's not like they've been losing money and are doing these cuts as a necessity

The top 5 leaders of this company bring in an estimated total compensation of 40 Million + per year.
Mr. Wilson is worth roughly 18.5 Million per year of that mix. How far would 20 Million (Half the Compensation Total) go for the workers being let go?

The issue isn’t that they are doing layoffs, that’s business and ultimately they don’t need a reason to lay us off besides it being best for business.

The ISSUE is the lack of professionalism, communication, and direction from management regarding the layoffs has been horrible.

They’re throwing thousands of loyal employees and their families to the wolves during the worst pandemic and job market combo in U.S. history. To add insult to injury the stock buy backs, purchase of national general for billions IN CASH, outsourcing more jobs to third world countries lacking labor laws like India, executives salaries are bloated beyond comparison with those of other insurance companies. We should be happy though because according to them these are exciting times. Enron treated their employees better than this.

If someone has the old and the new severance policy, they could just email it to CBS from a throw-away email address.
Also, CEO salaries are public information. I don’t think the Allstate CEO deserves a higher than average salary, especially considering his performance at Sears.

Thanks for including they implied they didn’t have to do the cuts at this time but wanted to to get on with their transformative growth program. They could have waited at least until the pandemic was more under control.

He’s the facts CBS.

  • All employers told by the CEO in January-May during monthly tow hall meetings no lay offs, everything is great at Allstate. Great profits, big bragging on giving customers discount during covid.
  • January, $3B is stock buy back for leaders additional salary bonus.
  • June 16th town hall meeting with CEO, normal meeting, waits til the end of the meeting to announce that Allstate needs to cut $1B is salary, excuse was that Allstate is not competitive & needs to give customers a better rate. Also CEO was slurring & sounded like he was drunk during this town hall. Normally recording of town hall always been available, this town hall gone......
  • July Allstate purchase National General Insurance for $3B.
  • Allstate rates still very high & not competitive.
  • Allstate has now outsourced to Puna India for claims processing & also completing estimate on auto claims completed by customers who use the Allstate claims app. FYI the India team Not being paid any benefits or fair wages. Most don’t have any experience in the auto collision industry.
  • Allstate CEO Thomas Wilson & President of PPL Glen Shapiro & many more of the leaders salary is 10 times more than any comparable traded insurance company or any company for that matter.
  • The list of unethical business practices & exploitation of cheap over seas labor keeps growing & growing......

Not sure we have much for you other than we have been strung along and told different things every day by leadership under the guise of transparency. They mess with our heads and expect us to do a full days work.
