Employee survey

What have people heard for the employee survey results? We had negative responses for UHG being a great place to recommend to others. Not surprised! Being asked for why that is, what can be done better but it’s really up to top leadership to change the work culture and rebuild trust with employees at all levels.

Please be honest of the surveys. They are confidential and we do not link team members to the survey, or it wouldn’t be a survey. Remember to be honest and get them completed. I will be on PTO for a few weeks but will be checking back in. Please continue to keep up the good work and remember working extra on the weekends and evenings will help us all move forward.

Be careful on those surveys. My opinion? The survey is not confidential. I was honest the last year that I was employed and I'll never forget how angry my manager was after the results came out.

As discussed in our Friday team meeting, the annual Vital Signs Survey is starting. In order to address any concerns, please complete the attached Mock Vital Signs Survey, print it out and place it inside the brown routing envelope in the mailbox by EOD.

Remember, to be rewarded you must be exceptional. Not everyone should be rewarded. It’s not this company, it’s the way it is everywhere. Going to another company is just a pattern, you can’t single this out as well they don’t like me or I’m not favorite. You must be smart, exceptional and hard working. Stop complaining and get to work and strive to be the best you can be even if you are short a few thousand brain cells.

You just summed UHG PERFECTLY!

Never rewarded - the impossible is expected.
Management cares about Themselves only .
This job has totally ruined my emotional life .
UHG is a “ Fear Based Company!!”-
Forget the culture they claim to hold dear - it’s a joke !

The fact that they ask that question, just goes to show how out of tune leadership is with employees! Exactly what someone else pointed out, they need to review their management teams. People that have no clue about the job get promoted or they hire their friends who have no clue. You get no clear direction because these fools don’t know what they are doing to be able to guide the staff. I don’t mind putting hard work in but stop wasting my time with stupid plans that anyone with some sense wouldn’t have started.

New Map goals for our area. Our individual response on how our team and how we rate our performance is going to effect our end of year review. Meaning what have we done individually to change our individual and team score. More nonsense.

This company is bipolar in how it relates to employees. It needs to layoff some dr directors, assoc VP's, VP's, all the way up. Too many "operational excellence" leaders (wtf that means anyway?), "leaders" who believe they're excellent just because they say so. I guess it's "Bill & Ted's excellent adventure" if you're one of these guys..

I gave 100 out of 100 in my first year, due to fear or possible pry.
After hearing everything is anonymous, I gave like 70-80 out 100, something closer to what i truly thought about.

About lay off - that's GL 29+'s decision, i highly believe your relationship sith GL29+ does matter.

Same, getting pressure from my leadership to understand why my team was so low on that particular question! We’re way overworked and being pressured to deliver low quality work to keep up with the demand while others still have time for “special projects”.

And we’re constantly looking over our shoulder for the next lay-off while being told how great earnings were.

The over-all review of UHC is probably better than it really is. Many people gave good review scores out of fear. Each department knows who took the survey and who did not. This company has to change the culture with people fit for the job role. Managers have to be great managers and put an end to showing inequality.

I have developed anxiety from this place. Every work day I am thinking when is the next time my manager or a manager from another department going to blow up at me then later on in the day or week is more kind and reasonable. This is common with a lot of managers at UHC/Optum. It is a constant coin flip of what mood they are in and i am pretty sure it because they may be getting pressured or they are only trying save themselves by appearing to look competent from your hard work. I have noticed that majority of managers are UHC/Optum are very selfish and only look after themselves and there may be good managers but I have not seen a single one so far.

Another issue is being over-worked. Non-stop calls from start to finish, Monday through Saturday, Service levels that impossible to meet due to low staff and calls in queue, call handle time near impossible to meet unless you provide bare minimum quality - just enough to not cause a manager call, and departments that cannot work together and put more effort into not taking calls than taking a call for their department.

Last and most important, the lay-offs. UHC/Optum laid off too many people and too many good employees. Look back 5 years ago and compare to now, the level of service and quality has degraded so profound I am not confident that the customers will even sign up or if business' will even continue to work with UHC.

We have heard nothing in Optum Enterprise Clinical Services, but I can’t imagine anything good due to layoffs, move to Optum, new silent leadership, unorganized projects, no value managers, and far too much work for anyone to handle.
