Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Furloughs Aug 3 and Aug 10

Honeywell will announce more furloughs for US based employees, starting with one week beginning on Aug. 3 2020 and on Aug. 10 2020.

They will do the 50% loading for each week so not everyone is off at the same time.

What I’ve come to realize is that I’m a day laborer and nothing more. Show up that day, you are paid. I used to make fun of day laborers and those looking for work, including those of a non-white race, yet what am I doing.? Now? I’ve changed my understanding. Look at who we work for?

@1ugo
If they furlough half of the people one week and the other half of the people the next week that is ONE furlough.
I typed this real slow for you.

Still going to pay investor dividends though. Employees are directed to not let external contacts know they are on furlough. They know this looks bad.

Just got the details of latest furlough at PMT his morning. My group split into four teams, each team taking furlough in one of next 4 weeks (starting 3-Aug).

  • Would be nice to have a little more notice
  • Would be even nicer to at least have some discussion at latest Town Hall meeting only last Friday (did you notice that they filtered out any question in the Q&A about lay-offs, future cost savings, etc. Town hall should be place for honest sharing to inspire some confidence, not a HON commercial to employees).

I guess this is better (or not) than getting 1-2 days notice you are RIF'd. At least if you're RIIF'd, you do get severance pay, LOL

H1-B employees aren’t impacted by the furlough. Can someone explain that to me??? What a slap in the face. If you’re a non-citizen in the US, you don’t qualify for, what essentially is, a pay cut.

Sad to see a company blame all of the furloughs on COVID-19 when they were planning this months before. COVID actually slowed the process down. Darius has been making internal moves since December 2019. He doesn’t care about people as evidenced in his move to Charlotte-Self centered and self loathing. He single handedly ruined HON.

I received the email, but dates haven’t been mentioned yet other than the week of furlough will be in August.

And I’ll also expect another round in November because it’s still going to s— then too.

Are these furloughs for "direct" or "indirect" employees?

Is this in addition to the already-in-place July 27 (50% off right now) and August 10 furloughs?
