Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Wellness check simplification

This is mostly for the Macy's big wigs reading this (which I know you are)
I got this idea from my kids' school (sorta, this is kind of what the teachers do).
Why not release an update to the registers and the clock in function that will ask every employee the 4 wellness questions (no fever, no symptoms, no contact, no whatever) in one shot, and all you have to do is hit enter or something to attest that the answer to all the questions is "no" before you can continue to clock in. You could even use your employee# and pin as your signature. Not only will this scenario leave a permanent electronic record that wellness check ins are being done, it will also save a sh– ton of time on the colleagues as well as the wellness MIC's. Temperature checks are useless. At this point in the game we know good and well that a fever is not indicative of covid, yet at the same time you can have covid but not have a fever. If you feel a sick, take your temperature at home (like you're supposed to) or use the company provided one before you punch in and answer the questions. There's absolutely no reason for them to be personally asking each colleague these questions. If they are doing it this way, it's highly inefficient. If they aren't, either way they're violating (inefficient) company policy.

Wellness checks have pretty much been reduced to SA's taking their own temps if they think of it. One of our sales associates was allowed to work while obviously sick, sneezing and coughing, because she said that it was just a cold. I guess she's a doctor also. No extra cleaning of anything, customers with masks under their chins, SA's with masks under their chins and customers climbing all over the sales people. Hopeless. We work face to face with strangers hours a week, and little to no support.

It's being developed. Store manager told us to expect it soon.

I was told by one of my ovms that it will soon be available for us to check in online. Probably via insite before our shift begins.

This is a good idea. Ignore the person below. Even though MST is all but defunct in stores, register updates are still done on a regular basis overnight. It’s perfectly doable in concept. The only people it would neglect would be the leased departments and vendors who have their own timekeeping system. Still a great idea.

@uad+16A0ROv5 You’re not just wrong, you’re ignorant and racist. NCR is the vendor used in place of MST. there is no “guy in india”. All I’m saying is there can be a much easier way to streamline the processes. Regardless whether or not Macy’s cares about our health, they certainly care about making the machines do humans jobs. Which is essentially what I’m suggesting. Nothing incredibly technologically advanced, just a little minor questionnaire addition to the clock in process. I’m not suggesting we redesign the entire user interface. Stop acting like such a pessimist.

First, they got rid of most MIS/IT so nobody is left to implement this idea except some guy in India being paid $3 an hour.

Second, Macy's could care less about your health - just show up to work.

Third, even if the guy in India could do it, the registers are so old that adding one more thing to them are likely to cause the entire system to go bellyup.

Tremendous idea! Instead of blaming others for our problems. We come up with solutions. Teams Win!

Surprised they haven't done something like this sooner. Covers their asses, saves us time.
