Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco paid me 5 months NOT to work!

I was impacted by an LR at the end of February, pre-covid. I heard there were 3,000 impacted at that time. My original end date of pay and benefits was originally end of March.

Then covid hit.

Mid March, I was advised my end date of pay and benefits was shifted to end of May.

Mid May, I was advised my end date of pay and benefits was shifted to end of July.

End of July, 5 months later, I then received my cobra rollup, PTO payout, and severance pay.

Doing simple math, I received 89% of my annual base pay for only working 2 months.
Coincidentally, I started with my new employer July 1 with benefits starting Aug 1.

Thanks Cisco!

If the reason for extending employment was due to Covid and Covid is still here, shouldn't they give the people LRed on October 7th the same package?

Why LR people now and give them the same package as those LR'd back in Feb if you're just going to keep pushing out their last day of employment? At least get some work out of them in return for their wages until the pandemic is under control and then LR them, hopefully with a decent package and a good opportunity to land a new role.

Cisco isn't reducing OpEx if it's paying people to not work for months on end.

Anyone know if the people LR'd in Feb are still considered employees? If they keep getting extended, maybe those LR'd this Oct will be extended too and they'll end up getting a better package that what will be initially communicated.

I know of at least 2 colleagues that were told they were being let go around end of q2, and they were paid until end of q4 (this was known as soon as they had The Talk). They were both slackers as I understood it, and I actually saw them in the office more often during H2. I have no idea what the reasoning was.

Talk about hitting the layoff lottery. Can we replace that banner on the building on Tasman and Zanker to say “Cisco - #1 place to get laid off 2020!”

ER package gave you 9 months, even better.. consider the past laid off personal, night and day difference, these are the follow dates where people are fired, 4/2017, 8/2017, 11/2017, 2/2018, 6/2018, 10/2018, 2/2019.. they get nothing compare to you all.. almost 3000 people..
