Very sad to hear. I worked there for 10 years in various roles. It's the people I feel sorry for, some have been there most of their working lives.
Not the first RF company that HON has bought and destroyed.
Won't be the last.
They think switches, antennas, BFNs and the like are just like any other widget.
You just spit them out of a mold.

I know rather a lot about COM DEV and Management. Let me just say that anyone who thinks you can hire effectively, motivate your staff, retain your staff and run a succesful high tech company without considering the wellbeing of your employees has obviously never sat though an executive management meeting in such a company. In COM DEV's case, the evidence speaks for itself. Good management of people resulted in.....motivated employees, happy customers, long term growth and success. Subsequent poor management of people resulted in.....demotivated employees, loss of key employees, long term continuous sales decline and a distinct lack of success.
None of this is rocket science. Just go and read a decent management book. Obviously, none of the Honeywell management ever bothered. Such a shame.
This site was doomed to closure, as 35-45% of employees were super managers (typing e-mail and playing meetings), and the majority of supper managers know nothing about the business, in fact, many of them don't have professional integrity. It was having a high turnover of employees due to a poor working environment, all kudos to the upper management.

The moribund Cambridge facility would appear to be running on empty at this point. Bleak times in the "Technology Triangle" with the decline and fall of many former high technology mainstays over the past decade.
Like many if not all of the acquisitions of the last decade, no one is going to publicly say that's an ugly baby. They figure out what they actually have, decide what little bit they want to keep and quietly cull out the rest. Yeah, Comdev was probably a pretty good company but like the others, it didn't fit the HON mold. Adapt or perish is the order of the day if your company is acquired.
When is the facility expected to be closed (ie: soon, later this year, or next year)?

Its been the plan to reduce the footprint to the very wishes of DA. He has been trying to remake Honeywell to become the software of the industry. With a plan like that, it may be better to leave the company that actually makes things rather than putting their brand over a product without any real content.
Jobs are hard to come by but if look out long and hard enough a job will come along and then you can be rid of all this nonsense that is Honeywell.
When someone tears down the work of generations it is appropriate to grieve.
The lesson here is that self sacrifice is not sustainable. This is a lesson most people learn in kindergarten from books by shel Silverstein.
Honeywell leadership seems to have failed kindergarten as they continue to ask for self sacrifice (EEI, Yield, etc) over and over until the apple tree is nothing but a stump and they are forced to sell the family farm.

Yep I agree. Com dev was a great site prior to Honeywell. They had a company funded drinks area and great work atmosphere. That all went when Honeywell took over. The hr lady there walked out as she didn’t agree with a Honeywell’s ways! Now the site is closing. Not surprised as COMDEV have been hit in Canada.
I really feel for the comdev folks. A great team destroyed in record time. Usually takes decades to s— a victim dry like they did comdev.
If honeywell had been smarter there would be a partnership with spacex, instead spacex is rapidly building in house rf and leo knowledge in redmond. They will catch up quickly.

Sad to hear, great work came out of collaborations with Cambrigde and UK. RIP.......Is Cambridge next?
