Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I am currently in the middle of my PIP and it's been funny watching my supervisor squirm every step of the way.

Monday I start phase 2 (out of 3) of my PIP. It has been hilarious watching my supervisor having to deal with me. Every couple weeks I have to sign forms reviewed by HR and law so they have their asses covered. They can't even get them to me in the time frame I'm told because they are scared of f—ing up. I intentionally took the PIP to make it harder on the company as compared to just resigning. They will be firing me very soon, but its been a treat putting this back on them. I've been spending the past month updating my resume and browsing new jobs all on Exxon time. I've got plenty of money saved to play their games. Plus they'll have to pay me for my 6 weeks of vacation i still have. Management is so stupid, they dont even realize they are next on the chopping block.

Don’t waste even 1 second with this company.invest your energy and expertise in other company. This is no longer the company that shines and glory. Sun is coming down on you!

You can do your own notes, and email everyone right after your meeting. So there is a counter record!

Dirty dirty cover up.
HBF supervisors squirm and lost in the woods. Good to see how all involved in this unethical approach get punished before they RIP.
Someone is watching over you from the above!

Screw the supervisor who are being challenged on a poorly written PIP, her team member can PIP her instead. Spent more than 25 years and still hold a supervisor role and spotlight herself by networking with managers in order to get a manager role..stay rut with the sunken organization.

Call the super tomorrow - and tell it you are going PiL tomorrow.
Have it watch you sign the papers (also have to mail the letter).
Talk about squirm. They'll all be doing the human alligator - Texas style .

I have an employee on a pip and have no idea what you are talking about deadlines, HR, law. We just go over the 2 week forms and i keep them. No one has ever asked for them. Maybe different at different sites. I haven’t heard from HR since employee pip started.

@lle+16BIOteO Once the right percentage of people are cut I’m sure a lot of those supervisors will be demoted back to peons until their ready to cut more and then the PIPs will come.

Send them an email, asking them to acknowledge that changes were made, “[supervisor’s name here], last time the forms were presented to me late and did not reflect our verbal discussion. I feel that this puts me at a disadvantage as I am trying my best to accomplish the tasks that were verbally given just to have them changed once on paper. Can you please ensure I’m given a fair opportunity to succeed." That should keep them busy and squirming. Write till they acknowledge or deny they changed the forms. That is why you do both audio and email chains.

Same here. Manger writes my PIP progress report every 2 weeks, which I sign, and it goes to HR

It is certainly not only the CSR site. There’s bad Supervisors all over Houston campus. Not sure who chose to promote them but I would eliminate the entire level. It is absurd to have several tiers of “leadership” for teams that no work.

Good for you! I would double check on the vacation as I didn’t think you got paid for it if you were terminated. I thought you were only paid if you converted to the PIL. You should be able to change to a PIL at any time. Just know when to pull your parachute before you hit the ground a.k.a. get terminated.

In regards to the post about generic statements and now what you had discussed, it appears to me they are getting their ducks in a row to let you go anytime now. They are leaving it very open and generic to say you are not meeting the PIP requirements.
Be very careful, in your next meeting they may drop it on you, so be prepared and ready. If it doesn’t happen and they do this again ask specific questions as to why the generic statements, and what has changed from what they had originally communicated to you in the beginning (PIP) original documents in regards to your specific goals and measurements etc. refer to original PIP and what was exactly on the original PIP. Have it with you. Also, by pressing the issue you can again ask/tell them why has it changed? Ask point blank if they are trying to change it up? and be vague to see you fail and let you go. Since you have made it this far, they are trying to speed up the process to let you go. But be careful to push too far and keep calm and pleasant when talking to them.
I hope I’m wrong, it just seems like they are up to something. And I agree with other posts to record it. It’s a one person consent in TX to record it.
This is so dirty and I’m so sorry you are going through this.

This post is gets deleted. Yes recoded it all. Texas is a single party consent state. I’ve seen my supervisor squirm as well. I have deadlines to meet but theses forms are written gone to Law and HR for review. Changed to generic statements and not what we discussed in the meetings. I may not sign the next one.

If appropriate, do record the conversations too. If it helps, check with you lawyer should you require help.

If you have a chance, take pictures or video of those documents. Cover your @ss too. But if you want to go further record the conversations as well.

I’m in the same position and it’s interesting to see my supervisor squirm. HR and law take there time and wordsmith the form but I have to meet deadlines or it’s over. The supervisor already uses vague and under represented statements.

Is the signing of forms every 2-3 weeks something you were told you had to do from the beginning for the PIP?

I heard that PIP can be extended up to 6 months? I hope this helps in your journey on taking cash.. proactively engage them and document your actions. Get a counsel if required. Good luck!
