For those who were laid off what will you tell future employers in an interview? Was at the company just over 3 years and looking to switch industries...looking for any advice or thoughts.

Tell them you were let go for taking off too many days, to peacefully protest on behalf of blm. Then mention that att is racist and should be peacefully protested immediately!
If you are not hired right away start screaming that the interviewer is a racist!!!
Say you decided to leave to pursue new opportunities. It works for the executives.
I told them I was a non diverse non female whose daddy never worked for the company. They understood completely.
Tell them the TRUTH!! Otherwise might as well list on your resume that you graduated from Harvard Business School Summa Cum Laude but the interviewer would know that is a lie because AT&T doesn't hire anyone that smart.
You were laid off due to company restructuring.
Agree with not bad mouthing T. Say you were laid off in a surplus. Everyone knows the big companies do this all the time.
Be unemotional about it. Worked for me.
No one is going to think you were let go cause you were the dregs
Don’t badmouth T to a place you want to work. Just say layoffs were a quarterly occurrence and eventually you got caught up in the numbers game. Nothing to do with you. Just business.
In my experience if they ask anything it’s how was the severance package.
I used this on an interview after I was let go. I found it somewhere online. I got a good job pretty quickly after life at T. Best of luck to you.
Well, I worked very hard at the job I was doing and I was working with a new manager. I checked in with him every couple days to be sure I was meeting his expectations and that we were on the same page. But it seemed that objectives for me and my department were never well defined. One day, not long after the quarterly revenue reports showed companywide losses and management had ordered each department to make budget cuts, he pulled me into his office and told me things weren't working out, so the company was letting me go. I was upset, of course, but as it turned out, the time off has allowed me to assess what happened, what kind of company I want to work for, and what I needed to change within myself to achieve success going forward.
I would tell them you got laid off due to market changes and technology changes that came about due to the Covid pandemic. It both true and likely to be relatable.
Did we get laid off due to COVID-19? This has both future career and financial implications. For example: 401K withdrawls could avoid the 10% IRS surcharge.
tell them that you made a mistake waiting too long to jump ship
Honestly is always the best policy. Tell them you were caught up in a headcount reduction effort.
Don't tell them you were laid off due to poor performance or for stealing from the company or for s-xual harassment or for doing d–gs.
