Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Why you should accept the ER package

A coworker asked my advice on the ER package. He said that if he keeps his job for ten months it is the the same as the ER package.

Its not. Here is the difference. With the ER package, you are paying yourself to work on yourself. If you stay at Cisco, you are getting paid, but not improving or reskilling yourself in aws and azure (the future).

Take the ER package and pay yourself to learn new skills. You will find an equivalent paying job in 3 to 6 months and still have banked at least 3 months of free money.

I agree. In fact I’ve been looking at architect certs for AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. Many jobs out there for AWS, quite a few for Azure, fewer for Google.. and I noted AWS Certified Arch pays the least, Azure better and Google by far and away the best pay out of the 3. Invest in yourself .. Take the ER. :-)

a year from now you will likely be laid off and have a minimal LR package. even if you survive that, you will have no new stock grants and no bonus. you won't have developed any new skillz. TAKE THE ER IF YOU HAVE A BRAIN.
