Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

No Respect

The problem with UP is the lack of respect towards oneanother. Theres not one Manager that gets any respect, and agreement?, well they dont even respect themselves. Agreement just backstabs eachother and Management is nothing but a joke to them. Management have no respect for Agreement and the whole place is completely toxic at this point. Even seniority agreement are laughed at nowadays. Look at how the CEO and COO are portrayed on this website. UP is filled with discontent and it needs to change.

This “us-vs-them” has been the mantra since well before I started there in 1984 and will NEVER stop. Union-management relations have ALWAYS been terrible and always will be. Don’t believe me? Save this and re-read it in 20 years - assuming any of you are still working there and haven’t been replaced by robots. Get what you can while you can. Work until you can retire - early if possible. This is NOT your father’s railroad. Those days are long gone.

And yet you still can’t do it.

I agree that union membership needs to be more aggressive towards management, and come together under a common goal. It wouldn’t be too difficult, UP management consists of some of the dumbest people I’ve ever met.

I don’t work for UP anymore, but 98 percent of the posts on here are people blaming managers and others for there problems. Complaining about how managers treat them and how execs treat them. Why don’t you change your Situation instead of always crying about it! No wonder they keep cutting everybody off.

Here is how smart managers are over most of you. Time will prove it. Most of your jobs will be contracted out, but managers will still be here. Boom!

@2k, I see you don’t get sarcasm. That post obviously wasn’t sent by a manager.

@1gmj

Really? UP made you a manager because you're smarter? The people who think they smart usually prove how smart they are when they talk. You should really think. If you care to disagree with that, then reread your post and get back to us.

best advice I can give as an agreement is watch your back and have a Lawyer on retainer, dont take any sh– or play into the drama. No matter where you work your going to have backstabbers, a$$ kissers, but the Railroad is 99 percent of that. Since the day you were hired the Railroad has been building a case against you, and you should be building a case against the Managers they use for that. Cover your a–, watch your back, do your job. Youll do great kid!!!

If management wasn’t trying to to fire agreement employees from the day they hire them, treating them like liabilities, and talking/treating them like trash every day there probably wouldn’t be so many issues. The current CEO and COO are part of the problem it starts from the top and filters down it always does, they are responsible for this current toxic climate the company is currently stuck in. Running a proven to fail business model for short term gain will always cause issues. Agreement in general treats each other like one huge dysfunctional family they all get along even if they argue constantly. You want the atmosphere and culture to change start from management and it will change. The previous CEO’s and COO’s hardly ever had these issues and that’s because they realized the EMPLOYEES and CUSTOMERS make the company not the SHAREHOLDERS. Get back to that ideology and things should return back to a harmonious culture.

Agreement dont respect themselves? How so? You need to take a good look at the kinds of managers they have. If you have a problem with agreement folks, then that's your choice. If you have a problem with the management, again same thing.I don't care who or what craft your in. You're still considered an employee. What the UP or this site doesn't need is more a-holes like you constantly trying to stir the damn pot. So try being a part of the solution, and not part of the problem. Just like the last post said, "chang starts at the top". Focus on that instead.
