Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Morris Plains office opening! WTF

They are opening the MP office with 30% of people going in. I can’t believe how stupid Darius is. I really hope this bites him in the a–.

Also they are “inviting” us in, rather than telling us we must go! I wonder if we can say NO.

Honeywell has a long history of doing what is technically legal but stretches the intented law. The "invitation" seems like just another example of the companies long history of going to the edge of what is legally permissible.

Dear Unlucky. I would say you should be tested for antibodies because it’s highly possible you have been an asymptomatic super spreader somewhere along that line of exposure

In which case it would be everyone else you are with that might be unlucky enough to catch something from you.

Unlucky me. 8 weeks ago I was in South Carolina, and someone at the hotel I was staying at tested positive for Covid. So, I needed to WFH for 2 weeks. 6 weeks ago, I visited my parents in their nursing home, seems one of the residents there got Covid and had been eating with my parents, so I needed to WFH for 2 weeks. 4 weeks ago my husband's co-worker (who sits next to him) tested positive for Covid, so I needed to WFH for 2 weeks. Last week I moved my son into his fraternity house, and it seems like one of the students in the house tested positive for Covid so I should WFH for the next 2 weeks. I wonder how long I will have this unlucky series of events.

If we accept the “invitation” then we will lose all traction for filing a complaint. The state will simply disregard the complaint because we allegedly know the danger and accepted the invitation anyway.

DA HATES WFH - why do you think he made sure so many of those contributors were canned? So did Cote, for that matter.

To the douchebags saying everyone is lucky to have jobs: Honeywell is lucky that we haven't all said f$ck you and left. Don't worry. We're all working on it.

Sounds like at some point, someone in New Jersey is going to want this form to report a violation:

https://covid19.nj.gov/forms/violation

"If you believe an employer, organization, or entity is violating any Executive Order, please complete this form. Compliance with Executive Orders is not voluntary (in bold). You may report a violation anonymously, but please note, it will make it more difficult for law enforcement to investigate the complaint."

One of the actual options on the form is:

"A business that is not allowing remote work of non-essential employees"

No lawyer her, but "inviting" you to the office, they're basically asking you to violate this executive order and hoping you comply cause you are afraid of losing your job.

It’s no surprise that the guy who rode with trump on AF1 to show him our mask factory (while not wearing a mask) would then require employees to go back to work at a building when in person attendance makes no logical sense.

Is it true that we can take our masks off at our desks? How is that safe?

All exec orders mandating WFH or mask wearing can't be enforced unless there is a health department finding that breaching the order harmed someone (he/she got COVID and suffered). This is the reason cops are not enforcing mask wearing

To @2fog, you realize there is an executive order in New Jersey against working in the office if you can work from home?

It’s not an option. I wonder if it would be allowed by the state actually even if volunteers. You can’t volunteer to dine inside a restaurant in NJ. Why can you volunteer to work in an office against the rules.

Many people’s job cannot be remote like those you mentioned but almost everyone in MP can.

Saying that takes nothing away from the hardworking people whose work must be done in person But it does not mean office workers should join them.

Not sure why they are doing this. Most people in MP office spend their time on Teams meeting with people from all over the world. The building has been hollowed out with layoffs in AM and the move to Charlotte. It should be last HON facility to open

Stop whining Karen. People are working in supermarkets, restaurants and the post office to make sure that your entitled butt is comfortable, and they’re thankful to have a job.

The company is willing to needlessly endanger lives to bolster their ideology. There are no compelling reasons for workers who can perform their job functions remotely to return to work at this point. There is not yet enough evidence that this transition can be accomplished safely. There has not been sufficient transparency or communication to inspire confidence in their efforts. What are the testing and contact tracing protocols? The universities have largely failed in their re-opening attempts. Our workforce is a much more vulnerable population.

You are looking forward to sitting in a mask all day and not being allowed to go near others? Very odd

I don’t think they can

https://www.natlawreview.com/article/what-does-new-jersey-s-lifting-stay-home-order-mean-office-based-workers-not-much

“Paragraph 10 of Executive Order No. 107, which states: “All businesses or nonprofits in the State, whether closed or open to the public, must accommodate their workforce, wherever practicable, for telework or work-from-home arrangements,” remains in effect. Therefore, New Jersey employers should continue to allow telework arrangements for all employees who can perform their jobs remotely.“
