Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Is anyone in round 3 actually working this week?

I’m just moving my mouse around, saving docs occasionally, and reading on my phone. Took a 2 hour nap today. Won’t start working again until I know if I have a job here. Generally a very hard working, high performing worker but I’m just sick of this sh–. Anyone else in the same place mentally? I’m just feeling like f— these people until I know I’m going to continue to be paid.

Is that any different than what you did before imagineit? The fact that you could do that and go unnoticed should tell you how important you are. Adios amigos.

Have a drink, complain to your buds, toast to your experience and paycheck, and get back to work.

That's funny schit- "R3 working", mots of the people actually doing the grunt work are in R4 and thats the next shoe to drop on Oct 19th. I noticed there a big push to get the most out of the R4 employees and the new re-branded systems in place "Modern Desktop, Azure Migration etc before the game of musical chairs starts in October. Of course it makes total sense to use R4 SME's now before firing them.

The IT guys can figure out your productivity. All it takes is a call from your boss to begin the investigation. Best to have a solid work ethic and be productive.

You often don't get back what you put into it, and it is rare when you actually do. Grow up. You sound like you just ate a fortune cookie or something.

I like to be busy as well. I am not the lazy, do-nothing parasite bum type just out of spite or for no legitimate reason. Life isn't free and you only get back what you put in to it. Don't fool yourself. You'll thank me later.

I am a type A worker type, but will admit to being distracted the last few weeks. It will be nice to get resolution next week, no matter what the outcome.

I'm working. I like to stay busy and be productive. I don't get anything out of sitting around on the couch or on my a$$ doing nothing. And I party well whenever I want to, many evenings, and deserve it because I don't sit around all day like a lazy pathetic POS. Good luck with whatever your strategy or lifestyle is, To each their own.

ABU is back in office. Our productivity levels are lower than WFH. But it's all about appearances....

I’ve been through this many times. Work and morale drop to zero at times like this, Funny thing is, the Digital Transformation people are monitoring your keystrokes, and reporting to management that WFH is just as effective as being in the office. Best of luck to all fellow R3 people.

Been Day Trading and Day Drinking since we found out that would not be going back in the office anytime soon.

K–ling it, shorting O&G stocks and going long on Digital Tech transformation and EV stocks.

As one Analyst put it, “the sun is setting on your daddy’s oil companies!”

Cheers

You do know they have let go over 25,000 people in SLB to meet your boredom complaints? HAL the same and BHI similiar.

The world will keep going with Chevron, ExxonMobil or Hess etc fail, Russia or Saudi would turn on a few taps however if SLB, HAL and BHI all went under every O&G company could not function.

Figure out ways to leverage service companies, stop squeezing them.

Remember they have entire well engineering, production engineering all for 1/2 price of internal departments. Shapren your pencils— in fact forget they already have Data, Automation and AI to replace you. Good luck!

What? You mean people are still working now? I haven’t done anything since COVID-19 started back in March.

I take that back! I listen to all the town hall meetings but only if they are talking about layoffs. Other than that, I go fishing during the day and and practice yoga in my front room.

I’m thinking of starting a business selling prefabricate mattresses on my eBay store

My “technical” manager has been drinking most days since work from home started. Seems to be a little more forgetful during meetings this week. I suspect quite a few round three people are on cruise control.

The Sushi class right? I heard that one last week. How was it? Did you get a certificate? I am thinking on wine and cheese pairing. In a couple of months I will definitely be ready to get on a trip and use what I've learned. Lot's of reading and mouse clicking but definitely worth it.

Yes, someone of us actually have a work ethic and understand that nothing is free, it's just paid for by others. I am not making my fellow employees carry my workload simply because I am a karen. It's not "management" that you are screwing. It's your coworkers.

A couple of buddies of mine from SCM and I just finished a cooking class in Coursera. The class was actually recommended by an HR specialist. A lot of work let me tell you, but when you do this on someone else's dime is something you can't beat. I am in R3 so I still have time to finish a couple more. Have them in my calendar as learning events, there you go.
