Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Now Xandr is on the chopping block

Guess you can't make advertising matter after all...

I worked at AT&T recently as a consultant. Oh man to find the right person who knows the sh-t took me many many days and I was going in circles all the time.
With doing so, one of the managers felt that I was too aggressive. So they call my firm and terminated my contract. What a joke place. Since when doing the right thing for company and work is too aggressive.

Oh, and the Tools they are using are so ancient and too many meetings. Out of 40 hrs work week, I spent 30 in meetings and some were completely useless for me. But, I was told it is mandatory to attentd. LOL

Randall and Stankey used to say advertising makes the Time Warner purchase worthwhile and pay for itself and we'll take over the world with our new powers. How wrong they were. AT&T is no Google and no Facebook and no Amazon. Stick to telecom m and sell these id–tic businesses (Xander, ATT Mexico, Time Warner, DirecTV).

Does this mean that I won't get the awesome targeted ads on my AT&T TV?

Oh wait, I didn't sign up for AT&T TV because of its ancient contract terms, required hardware (lame), and cable ripe-off (pay for 90% channels I don't watch). -

Too bad, Xandr, we were never meant for each other.

Xandr never had any real revenue, it was an internal division , hoping to be the "Google" marketing wise of ATT for the media assets ..
It has zero real world value, the only way T managed to monetize it was via exclusive data access , but have today's ott environment that data is already available via the search engines , sales channels and mobile vendors. So basically it's useless, I can't see anyone buying this division.

"There seems to be a common theme at AT&T:
1) Find a company with a product you think has a future
2) Buy said company and own a shiny new object
3) Clean house of the people who built the company you just bought thus taking some of the shine off
4) Replace said people with AT&T managers who don't know as much about the business as the people that have just been cleared out
5) Poorly run the new AT&T unit
6) Lose market share
7) Get rid of new unit as it's no longer a shiny new object, but rather a boat anchor
8) Find another shiny new object
9) See #2"

That's it in a nutshell!

From the article –> AT&T in April folded Xandr into WarnerMedia. Brian Lesser, who had run the division, exited the company. Mike Welch, a longtime AT&T exec, took over as the head of Xandr last month.
