Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Why is Ford's board on TheLayoff.com busy and GM's is not?

Curious?

Why? Because your company is fing stupid with who they hire to run the company. They can not run it, so they hire other jokers. Watching the Detroit Lions, is like watching the Ford Motor zcompany, minus the F150, which also is getting to be a little old.

IDK maybe because they are focusing on the basics like Product,Quality,Safety,Reliability while we are focusing on big data, video games, big data, race cars, big data, av, big data, train station, big data, design thinking, and oh and big data.

Looks like Farley didn’t really learn valuable lessons from Toyota whilst he was there. Toyota is doing just fine making consistent iterative improvements to their core business- aka the product.

I think the Ford family is indeed the problem. The main reason is their influence has pushed the company into advancing the wrong people into leadership positions. Elena liked how Farley caused people to fear him. Farley played Elena by promoting her. Bill likes Farley because he seems so competitive. Noone seemed to be interested in talking to leaders who worked with the guy.

And then Hacket, the loud, know it all friend of Bill. Terrible decision!

Why? Because GM is not family controlled. Most employees there, started their career, and worked their way up the chart. Most came from humble beginnings, not Ford Family Royalty. They will also boot your as out the door, but they do not have to have some buzz name for it. You are stuck with the over paid gene pool.

Go wave the flag like you did 11 years ago. The flag wore out, but you are getting Ford Family shaft.

Don't forget - GM went bankrupt and was able to dump billions in debt. Saint Mullaly's PR stunt looks worse all the time. Turns out he was a short timer turn & burn CEO afterall.....look at the decisions he green light for the failed dual cluttch tramsission among others. He has cost Ford more money than even the two Bills's and all the Ford's combined...

The American (if you want to call it that) auto industry is on the brink. Sure there are some bright stars like Tesla, but they are so small. Steady wins the race, and that has been Toyota and Honda. Ford used to be a steady eddy, but since mid 2000s it has been ADD overlode. Every CEO had a different game plan, tons of investment, little to no return. Customers dissatisfied with the offering. If anything, GM has been all over the map in the last 20 years. Failed nameplates, failed brands, illogical goals. Chrysler just slept around with multiple companies in the last 20 years.

Rather than needing layoffs, GM just hired in 100 of their temporary employees as permanent. They are in much better shape financially, started eliminating unprofitable regions and products much earlier, didn't waste time and $11 billion calling it "smart redesign."

GM cut more last year. now it's our turn.

When GM was cutting, they had 100s of messages every day on this board. Now they have 5 and we have dozens.
