@akrq is exactly right. When Alan was here, I knew exactly where we were heading and what was expected of me. Now, I feel like I'm chasing mosquitoes with a BB gun. Big Jim's circular talks always left me confused and little Jim doesnt make me confident either. If Billy had any sense, he would swallow his pride, call Mullaly and beg him to come back for a year.

"Al, if you come back, I'll give you 50 million and I promise to stay in Ann Arbor and not set foot in Dearborn. You can even fire a couple of my cousins/nieces/nephews if you want".

Who knows, it might work.

When you read some of these post you have to wander about the source? Yes I am a salaried employee, with quite a bit if time in the company. I seen it in its heyday and now i see it on life support. I read comments about people not doing anything from home. Well maybe if we had competent management with a vision or plan that everyone can understand the troops will respond. I am sorry but there are good people in this company, Problem is lack of leadership. We only march too what we are directed too.
Can anyone explain what is our MANTRA? Where are we going? How are we going to get there? Can you point out any really true leadership? I can not.
A recent pulse survey results were reviewed with the Powertrain folks in which the number one comment from employees Upper management was all talk no action. But when these reductions come around it is the ground troops that are impacted not the officers. I read comments about skill set. well does that include the Ford family? I bet none of them will be cut. If it were not for their last name that resume would be tossed into the can. But qualified people are shown the door. the arrogance of this company baffles me. We are a one trick pony (F-Series) after that we be dying on the vine. I have no idea of my fate for the next 6-24+ months but i feel sad for what has happened when incompetent management or lack of leadership has done to this company. We need Alan or Bob Lutz to come back. At least they understood the business.

I found this most interesting

“ Ford said Wednesday it would not publicly disclose the cost savings the restructuring has yielded to date. However, during the automaker's second-quarter earnings release in July, executives said the redesign is on track and had achieved about $1 billion in structural cost improvements since late 2018. ”

The smart redesign was suppose to save 11 billion in structural cost improvements. I believe Hackett touted that number frequently. So 9% of the savings has been achieved. I would expect job cuts on the order of 20000-25000 in 2021.

We were told all of IT is excluded from packages. WTF? all of IT is certainly not critical. We have a high percentage of loafers in our IT department. We have many just sitting and twirling just waiting for a package.

You are right, but look at the way it's worded. "Some skill teams will limit eligibility based on critical skills and/or critical talent". Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That's loose and managers will spin it to kingdom come. Corruption eruption. They are in it to protect themselves and their turf. Bottom line.

It is pretty simple to identify the people who you would like to get rid of and then quantify that demographically so it can't be challenged.
All older employees whose productivity has dropped while at home should take the package!
It also saves the jobs for the younger folk.

I hope this is only the beginning of the process. Ford can reduce millions of overhead cost by eliminating 25% of the none-essential employees that are staying home and doing nothing important for the company.
