DirectTV was acquired 6-7 years after it was recommended. Timing is everything

Yup. I got DTV for $10 after we bought them.
Then I retired, and my DTV bill went up to $119, I was also paying $39 for c-ap 8MG all copper Uverse.
That's $158 bucks
I called over and over to try to reduce my bill.
Nope "Disconnect for 30 days (IIRC) and call again to get the new customer rate."
Nope .
Went to Spectrum.
100MB internet and a better TV package for $98 a month.
Apparently, I was not a high value customer.
Now, I'm not one at all.
They just don't get it.

maybe if T sells off direct tv at a loss. Will reduce the headcount by 10k employees and still save a ton of money?

I wonder if the idea of "Focus on high-value customers" is based on solid economics and demographics? There may not be a sufficient number of "high-value customers" to sustain the cash flow. Isn't the middle-class shrinking? Perhaps the elites at ATT making these decisions are way out of touch with what most people can afford or are willing to pay.

The funny thing is, that Randy and Stank carried out all these awesome plans intentionally. It doesn't take a mba to figure out what happens when discount stopped, prices went up, plenty of choices in the market place and most people are price sensitive. New customers stopped coming and loyal customers left in packs. "Focus on high-value customers to stabilize Entertainment Group EBITDA." Those the the famous last words of the a dying business.

Wireless isn't much different, your retail leader will say competition is tough due to lack of competing promo deals. And... why no promo deals, see Randy and Stank.

What a shame ... Stankey bought these losing business, borrowing $$$Bs, instead, the company could have used a fraction of that money to invest in wireless and broadband ... unfortunately, there is no accountability when these fools waste so much money, ruining a great, company, hard working employees lives. shame on you Stankey, Randall and your peers who are just moro$ns ...

because satellite service blows - have friends who got it within the last year and they still lose service during storms and were sold the line that the new satellites don't have that problem anymore. not paying for something that goes when there is a storm. it was a dumb buy plain and simple and whoever did it should not get rewarded. the folks I know will be cancelling when their contract is up.

with the way the tech companies are getting with this contract tracing I will be probably be ditching my mobile phone too. companies have to realize who is the boss and stop forcing their Utopian view of the world on their customers. real close to dumping my mobile phone.
