Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

North Platte? Any layoffs soon?

How many guys do you all think will get eliminated? Are we good till end of year or look for another job? Low end machinist here. But don't think it will affect the shop since we fix all junk out there. So since east coal is shutting down will layoffs follow? I read it will not impact us employees, hopefully not. Good luck brothers.

Would you care to enlighten us then? The bigger picture is that something is shutting down thats going to cost more UP jobs. This is after the fact they publicly stated there would be no significant impact on those jobs. Other than the lies the UP management is constantly telling, share with the rest of us what you know to help all of us understand better

Do not believe that any location is safe right now. I hate to say it but I think the big show has begun now. There's quite a few locations that are reporting big layoffs right now.

the key word in the article you are most likely referring to is "should" as in it should not significantly impact the 1600 employees. Only time will tell but North Platte might want to prepare for the worst.
Pure speculation though. Good luck
