4th Quarter Offer Rumor

We are hearing about an offer coming in the 4th quarter for Switching Equipment and C.O. Techs.
The rumor is that it won’t be the Special EISP, so I doubt many will take it.

LOL- buying a surplus of equipment is a waste of money... We've approved a full compliment of tools and equipment for each truck in the past. It didn't increase productivity one iota. Better to save the money.

LOL- I work on fiber daily and we have 1 test fiber scope between 4 techs. That's a company issue, not a union issue. I show up to many jobs without the tools to do my job and it comes down to I can get disciplined for not showing up but can't get disciplined for showing up and not being able to do the work because I haven't been provided with the tools needed that have been requested many times. Tick tock goes the clock, can't wait to get the magic numbers to get out of here.

I'm in that situation but I'm 50 with 30years, won't be able to touch my pension without penalties or restrictions till I'm 59.5. while I'm still planning on leaving soon it would be in my best interest to wait till I'm social security age. Also why not wait to leave with 1.1 million + 401k instead of taking 1 million if you can and if its only going to be a year or 2 before another buyout or hand out as some of you say

"Imagine? People with time are worth well over a million, a few much more" - Uh huh and still forced to work well into their 50's and 60's and groveling on here for handouts. BS....

Strange how last year everyone was buzzing about leaving when the offer came, but when it came they stayed.
The bottom line is: if you’re union you’ve been retired for a long time now. There’s just no incentive to leave. Imagine? People with time are worth well over a million, a few much more, and giving them an extra hundred thousand or so just isn’t enough to leave a job paying $2k a week, while adding 3-500 a week to that retirement lump, for really not doing much ( Fios excluded-those poor people work hard.)
I can understand non union people wanting to leave, but union? They’d work harder at home than ever at work.
Have to offer a lot more than 100k extra to get us dinosaurs to leave.

Where did I say I was speaking for you? I used "I'd" because that is what "I", as in "me", as in "not you", would leave for. What is important to you (pension) isn't and doesn't have to be what's most important to me (healthcare).

3/3 and I'm gone

So the bosses finally admitted to themselves that even with all the little projects here and there, CO work in NJ is next to nonexistent. Perhaps now we can get them to realize that we don't need 24/7/365 staffing to meet a 4 hour NDT commitment, when if the trouble is out, the customer may be out for days.

I just need 6 years maximum and then I will leave. The possibility of the company adding time to age/service I don’t think will ever materialize, so I will hold my breath and hope they extend this contract another 3 years after 2023. There has been plenty of talk/rumors about restructure, but’s it’s more of moving people who do absolutely nothing all day(Flaggers, rovers ect) into the Fios group..

Are you trollin' @1lps? You don't speak for me, but I'm not from your area. The pension far, far outweighs the partial covering of medical insurance before medicare kicks in, even if that's a number of years, or even decades.

Majority of the Maryland - DC area COT's need an offer with time and age to be able to go. Add 3 to age and service and I'd leave in less than 4 minutes. I'd even give up my pension if they let me keep my retirement healthcare.
