Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Dispatchers are being fired with a break up phone call read from an approved script. Many of them had over 20 years of service, and only get a phone call. I suggest all employees dust off your resume, and start looking for other employment. The cuts are not ending with dispatchers.

Dispatchers... not unionized. I think truck driver Dispatchers are even union. Come on! Really

So many train dispatchers in the over 50 years of age with 20+ years of service refused to sign A cards or vote yes to having representation/collective bargaining agreement in fear of losing the precious UP management pension touted and promised by the company. How did it go for everyone? The company made sure to pick as many of these highly paid, highly vested pension train dispatchers as possible where if there would have been an agreement they most likely would have been able to finish their careers collecting the 360 months of needed Railroad Retirement credits for the full annuity. Instead, the company showed them they did not matter stealing away the future so many had been sacrificing and working for. The company penalized people for their "total compensation." If you did not see this coming you were living with your head in the sand since the writing has been on the wall for years. Lastly, what a horrible way the company treated people who gave their most precious asset; time. Alas, for those who are left, welcome to the "CN Way" where "the how does not matter"

The face-to-face contact would probably result in a few hospital visits. It's not that hard to see that. The chicken shlt management team never could face the workers during conflict.

I got that phone call on Nov 13, 2018. I was in the first round of those cuts. It was a phone call first with my big boss on it sounding like he was scared sh–less then he handed the call off to some snooty biotch that read her script fast and with an uppity attitude. It was pathetic. And on Wednesday my big boss got the cut, he will be fine tho cuz hes set but the rest of the workers well good luck to them , been there done that know what you are all going thru.

The rich get richer, and whoever's left gets 5 times as much work. How's that for "efficiency"? They had me wrapping around 120 car trains by myself in 0 degree temperatures, when we used to have 3 guys. Dangerous and unethical.

And unfortunately our skill set as dispatchers means that if want to follow the craft then we would have to uproot families and move, assuming there’s any dispatching jobs still out there. The way that my co-workers are being let go is just cold. I mean, even a face to face meeting where questions could be asked (and be given the usual canned answer) would be worth something instead of the informal phone call. It’s basically a “thanks for playing” after giving years of personal sacrifice - the lost family weekends, missed holidays, etc.. that we can never get back.
