F&L employee forum - no anonymous slido

Have you noticed that the upcoming F&L Global Employee forum (Sept 15-21) has no anonymous option for submitting slido questions? The “leaders” are scared of what they will hear if it’s anonymous. Instead they would prefer to intimidate people.
If you see the questions so far, it has had the intended effect. US employees, who have no job protection, are forced to act like cheerleaders. Europe employees, who have some job protection from the government, are speaking their mind a little.
The emperor has no clothes and is scared to hear the truth..... wearerxxonmobil!

@Yuck: ExperiecedHire here. Notice that I said too few leaders. I have only crossed paths with two people that I consider big-picture, servant leaders. n-2 were EM mgr automatons. They had only position power. Yes, that is a very sad commentary on our 'leadership'

Hey other Experienced Hire, what have you done to change company culture since you got here? Stick your neck out at all, or resort to the comfortable numbness that is EM? I wish I could tell my story, but that would give me away. Let's just say that I put a dent in the EM universe without it being my day job. And no, I do not not plan to GTFOH, but rather tilt an a couple more windmills.

PIP people are hard working and they are generally smart. But they are not needed any more because of a reduction in activity. That is why there is a cut back. I imagine the reduction in Drillers and rig superintendents and Geos is going to be massive.

Will be interesting to ask him during F&L employee forum: how is his strategy work holding up now.
Fundamentals are still strong ?

Yup, they tried to do just that in our organization but there were zero questions until the day before the forum , so they relented, fearing a fiasco, and gave an anonymous option.

What ticks me off is the forum MC invariably "rephrases" the (top voted) question to a softer one the manager can handle. Cowards and sycophants, this is all they know how to be. Disgusting.

Being an experienced hire myself, what I cannot stand are other experienced hires praising their former companies. Please, go back and work there. If it was so great why did you leave in the first place!

Give us a break! We have enough BS internally to listen to yours!

You said very few leaders? W t f, I beg to disagree. Show me those few? I beg to argue that there zero true leaders in our company.

Don’t insult the word leaders next time around by associating with EM management

@byl+16NRGTWn: our problem is that our company has way too many managers, and too few true leaders. people who have grown up in EM know only to keep their heads down. EM managers credo is: don't f**k anything up so I can move on to the next assignment. that's why few of them take risks to do something better/new.

i'm an experienced hire who has yet to drink the 'EM is invincible" kool-aid. I came from a company that gutted management layers in the mid 90's and was much better for it. From plant engineer to global VP of manufacturing was only 4 levels. With less management BS, stewardship, endless meetings, etc. we had time and self-empowerment to improve.

@esw+16NRGTWn - that is BS logic from a company stooge. What internal communications? Those same tough questions are being asked in forums like this and the world can see. Bottom line is XOM “leaders” are cowards.

When you set up a Sli.do session you can make questions anonymous. It now defaults to showing names.

The change to require single sign on was to ensure only individuals with a valid company computer ID could login to a Slido event not some conspiracy by management to avoid anonymous questions. Doesn’t seem unreasonable to prevent outsiders from reading internal communications.

Someone posted on one of the older boards that Singapore did the same. This is humorous. Cowards

Global Projects recently did a forum the same way. Even with the questions not being too tough, the management crew answering the questions pretty much washed their hands and said, sorry it’s all out of our control.

This has been the pattern in many forums. However after some behind the scenes complaining to the organizers I have seen this changed now 4 times and revert to the old anonymous format.

@bwi+16NRGTWn that's funny. Those PIP'd are not hungry and don't need your few 100 bucks to speak their mind. They are hardworking folks in an unfortunate situation

Well people that are PIP'd now have a good new side hustle....they will ask the questions in exchange for money!! What do they have to lose....find your nearest PIP'd and give them 100 bucks to ask your questions
