how many percentage of the qualified employees accept the ER?

Hi, Folks

could you share your observation on the percentage of qualified employees accepted the ER offer?

Around me, I can see roughly 50% folks accepting the ER offer. Most of them from the family with double incomes. the medical insurance is not a problem for the time being. And most of them stayed in their level for a long time. It could have some impact to the on going projects.

Not sure if the company is willing to reject some of their applications.

Yeah, this is just situation normal in tech ever since the start, certainly since the 70’s. What has changed is that the latest crop of people coming into it seem to have a work ethic better aligned with unionized govt employee.

I’m taking the ER FOR ME, not for the self important cry babies begging me to leave.

Get used to it - life in high tech has a lot of risks. That’s why the pay is ridiculously high in Silicon Valley compared to the “real world”.

I’ve been dealing with it for 40 years - adapting, learning new tech, maintaining a flexible attitude. And most important realizing this was the career environment I chose and to have taken responsibility for that choice.

Begging others to give up their job so you can “feel safe”. Pathetic losers all of you.....

I'd place $20 on 25% take rate for this one.

I can see some young folks hope those senior engineer to take the ER package and leave. so that they can be saved in the following LR. I feel sorry for the company.

The company has been working so hard and so long to provide the working opportunities to those so called new blood. However, most of junior engineers in Cisco are not competitive as the company expected. As far as I can see, all most all the urgent escalation cases have been handled by senior developers. no hope to see new ideas from the new generation engineers. the new grads over average will leave the company after two or three after being trained in the company.

very sad!

25% has to be well below expectations. C and team must be disappointed as the consultants probably told them to expect 75+%

About 25% of those eligible people that I know have accepted. Admittedly a small sample but very geographically dispersed across USA and Canada.

spoke with DE community members of mine and it appears to be 35~40%

guessing ELT expected better than 60%. this has to be a disappointment and a substantially bigger LR is likely.

To the last poster, your manager has given great advice.

This is my third ER offer and I have finally reached the point financially and age that I can take it and move on to the next phase of my life.

I’m probably to old to get another high tech job and frankly am ready to leave this high stress work environment.

Cisco is giving me a bridge to this next phase and helping me move on to my other passion. Hopefully will work at great local nursery- a low stress, happy and carefree life.

someone said that the company wont reject the ER applications at the most cases, because the company does not take any responsibility against the individual intention.

I am eligible for ER. at the beginning I was considering to accept the offer, although I still want to stay in company for a few more years. it is a little b–challenge for me to make the decision because I am just over 50 a few years. it is still too early for me to retire. In the same time, it is too old to find another DE job. I am worried about being hit in the October LR without taking the ER. But my manager told me that the company most likely to allow every applicant to take the ER. He told not to accept unless you are really willing to retire.
