I'm no longer at Cisco but will share my story after a ex-colleague phoned me up and told me about the upcoming LR.
I was axed during the Sept 2017 layoff as a result of Spark being a PoS. I was a low grade at the time. My boss told me that my position was simply being eliminated as a cost saving measure.
After I got LRd I came to learn from friends on my old team that my position was converted to a higher grade position and filled with someone that the my manager wanted to save who also got LRd from their original team.
Upon learning this I went and got an attorney and filed suit for wrongful termination. Never was I given a performance review, never was I on a PIP, and if my job was terminated why was my position converted and backfilled plus a few other things.
Started off with a meeting with my attorney and corporate HR that led to a meeting with a corporate attorney and HR.
Settled in arbitration after a few weeks. End result was I got to keep my job but demanded to be moved to a different team. Success.
Didn't stick around long. By spring 2018 I had moved over to Netflix and loving every minute.
Not saying this will work for everyone but it worked for me.
