It has recently become clear in my old group that they furloughed and fired the higher paid career employees. Now they are only hiring entry level employees (MTs) or car preps–and paying them a lot less than those positions were making before covid.
In my old group they also definitely, 100% knew people were going to be laid off well before those people were told. I have documents that prove it. They didn't want to risk those people damaging the business or the cars or having time to gather evidence to prove their behavior was bordering on, if not completely, illegal. They also made people sign a multiple page legal document agreeing to waive all rights to sue the company in order to get severance.
If you didn't sign one, call a lawyer. Enterprise would almost always rather pay out an individual than risk negative press by going to court. I personally saw it multiple times in my years there. Every single suit was absurd. The RVP or GM would throw thousands of dollars at them to sign a confidentiality agreement and go away forever. I saw it happen with employees and customers.
