Thread regarding Pioneer Natural Resources Co. layoffs

Don’t Bite the Hand that Feeds You and Your Family

I understand that no company is perfect but come on people! With Covid here and the price of oil don’t you think that Pioneer held out long enough!!! Pioneer has held strong longer than any other company and now its time. With the package they are offering us it gives us some time to find another job God willing. I feel that the more they give the employees the more everyone asks for. It’s time to put your hands in your pocket instead of asking for more. May the Dear Lord walk with us all

In the May 2019 I received four payments, the big one was three months later and some of the stock options were 6 months after my last day. The good is pushing some of that to the next tax year. Otherwise it will be a very large tax bill for you in 2020. Put me in the 38% bracket for 2019 when the income for 3 months, then PTO, then 1.5 years salary, they 24K for medical, then options, all in one year. Seems like Uncle Sam always gets his cut but he won't be there long term to help you in the job market or pay your food or mortgage

With the way the Wall Street is going right now, even with all the shares vesting away it won’t be much to go off of

Several folks from the prior layoff complained of waiting 3-4 months before getting the severance money.

You are a number and everyone is expendable. PXD has not always been this way, but it is where it is at now. Accept this and decide if that matters to you. If you want to be more than a number, get out now, because what you see as right or wrong or fair, does not matter. What matters is, can you be that cog that keeps the machine moving forward. If you are ok blindly doing whatever the company asks without question you should stay, if this does not fit who you are, you need to ask for an out now as you are only hurting yourself by staying. Quality is not as important as quantity anymore. Least were all one day closer to the golden guillotine.

And our lord the holy ss spake, saying thou shalt take this pittance and be gone from mine sight and liketh it. And so it was. And lo, though they knew not the blessings they had received, their fate was truly bright, for they had been banished from the land of ineptitude and skullduggery to live as free men and women.

My hand is the hand that feeds me and my family. Pioneer is a corporate employer. Not a charity. The old school loyalty to your employer concept is a mistake at a large corporation. While some of the individuals at the top genuinely care about the employees at the bottom, they are beholden to the emotionless money of investment. Not to mention the majority of management who see this for what it is, make as much as they can off it, and could not care less about you. Stop fooling yourself. Learn a lesson. And go work with a small team you trust if you have the ability.

Pioneer has not held up longer than any other company. Even if this were the first round...which happened long before covid...that would not be true. I guess some people will die on the hill defending the propaganda they have been fed.

Hope you have 3 months of pay saved up because that’s how long it’s gonna take you to get paid when you’re laid off.
