Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Stephens, interestingly, was not asked for a progress report on slow-out-of-the-gate streaming service HBO Max during the 40-minute session.

I was in Des Moines this weekend and there is not much to do in Des Moines Iowa and they love movies. Went to a Sunday showing in a huge theatre and there was about 10 people total. Movie was ok but gave me such tired head after 2 1/2 hours just like the employees and and anyone that is not an executive at ATT!

"And the bit where they quote him saying he can't imagine seeing this movie at home instead of the theatre..."

Movie theaters are a thing of the past, the companies that own them are simply trying to milk them going for as long as possible. Streaming to your nice home theater is the new thing now where you control the entire "user experience." No more too loud, too soft, waiting in lines, sticky floors, dirty bathrooms, etc. And it increases the value of your home.

I'd be willing to bet all the C levels and their direct reports all have really nice home theaters that are either paid for by the company or are significant tax write-offs so they can screen Warner Media content without mingling with the riff-raff.

I have always liked John Stephens, but sadly I think he has to do what the Ratty and Stinky show push him around to say and do, I believe against his will. He too needs a paycheck to survive. Seems as though he was badgedered against his will to 'approve' the DTV and WM deals, among others.

And the bit where they quote him saying he can't imagine seeing this movie at home instead of the theatre...

Try imagine seeing it along with 5 covid carriers mixed into a crowded theater then carrying the virus back to your family, ya dingus.

What a doosh. He cares as much about the audience as he does about his employees.
