The world now knows our performance is based on who likes who or who makes the supervisors look good. Not based on actual performance. Been at EM in various roles and here is my spill.
- How do you go from a high performer to needs significant improvement? Because you are too honest and provide too much good feedback. Management likes followers.
- Why were so many experienced and new hires targeted with a PIP? Because experienced hires and fresh grads actually believe in innovative ideas that could benefit the company but the current culture is threatened and intimidated by those who think for themselves. As a result, falsehoods were created to put those who ask too many good questions in NSI to keep the the current culture as we sink like the Titanic.
- As a high performer, can I trust EM? No matter the ranking, prepare for plan B.
- If I’m PIPed, will I make it? It is possible, but now EM is admitting to layoffs. Prepare for plan B. If you were already falsely targeted for the PIP, and you make it, the managers who put you on the PIP are liars...who’s side is HR on? Not the employee’s or you would not be on a PIP in the first place nor told you are ranked NSI in your performance review.
- Why do I stay at EM? I had hope initially but now I know the current arrogant culture is not going to change. I have to support my spouse, kids, and grandchildren. I’m sure many of us are in similar situations. As an old timer, it is harder for us to move careers so late in the game, but I am taking action and preparing for plan B.
Good luck!
