Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

October 1st, attendance points are back.

We were told in a meeting today that attendance points are coming back on October 1st. We all know that can change. Or maybe they want a bunch of people to call off this month so that they can wrongfully coach them for "performance" for days that they weren't even at work after being told that they could call off for the safety of themselves and others. Said associates who call off are following policy much better than managers who abuse their power and don't follow the appropriate steps of coachings. This is wrongful termination. And to assume that the covid policy is in abuse is a violation of every associate's basic hippa rights. Do not let them push you around and don't be afraid to use the open door policy to your benefit.

What really annoys me is is the audacity of people upset about points. Think about the combination of things you have to do to be terminated for points:

  • calling off repeatedly
  • calling off during the busiest days of the year
  • no call no show
  • coming late repeatedly
  • leaving early repeatedly

And you want somebody to sympathize with you??? Seriously????

After years and years of near perfect attendence . And wading in and learning to eat lots ant lots of BS After surviving snitchy butt people and the scorn of management . After literally giving my physical health to Sam's U do not feel guilty in the slightest for calling off more than normal. All you whiners crying about call offs mostly have been here 5 years or less To me you are but short timers not having yet earned the right to gripe about anything. As soon as your little noses run or a tear falls from your eye you believe you have made a great sacrifice for the company. When you have literally work here a lifetime when more than half your fellow workers are younger than you have been here then you will know what sacrifice is. Then you will have something to say. When you get there you too will gladly take what is yours when you get the chance.

The point system may be back, but covid related call offs are still in effect. Read it on the wire.

Our manager decided to give less then ten hours per week to part time employees who called off all the time. Needless to say, people stopped calling off real quick. She didn't need a point system to fix the call off problem.

I can only hope the ones that have abused this policy will continue to call out and get the f..k out of here! HMS night shift and Deli day shift call out at least once every 10 days and have been since the points were suspended. On top of this both of these associates seem to think they are the best workers in the world and Sam's will close without them! I hope both of them are let go and management doesn't continue to take points off like he did before Covid. Perhaps he should consider the ones that work every day they are scheduled to work and how his favoritism affects their morale.

If you can't handle 40 hours of protected time off in a matter of 6 months... then that's your problem not sams club. Ppto literally affords you 5 days off, in emergency situations... THEN you can call off 5 times after that!!! If you can't work for a business where you are employed to actually show up to work in..... then you don't belong there in ther first place. Tootaloo

How are you complaining about something that hasn't even happened yet?

Far be it for me to be a company shill, but how are we supposed to do the jobs we signed up for with people constantly calling off? Especially in clubs/departments where the scheduling is already bare minimum?

The point system is strict but if you can't stay under 5 points, this ain't the job for you and you're not the co-worker for us. No hard feelings.
