The OP (@OP) has GOT to be a senior manager or executive - surely! Only a manager (currently still employed by EM) could be so clueless, so out of touch with the sentiments running through this forum and (apparently) through the EM organization.
Of course (as others have said) this has nothing to do with job losses and layoffs per se - it's the way that EM executives (as least down as far as VP level) handled things. There was an EMRE President's Forum just 2 days before the first Bloomberg article published, predicting a 10% reduction in the EM workforce. At that forum, there were a few incidents that particularly disgusted me:
-
The EMRE Strategy Advisor ("T.B.") served as a moderator, reading the Slido questions to the President ("D.T."). The moderator reworded and paraphrased all of the questions relating to the future of the organization, staffing levels, the "green" blue sky projects and the disappointing results of the relocation of Product Development to Clinton ("projects are slower, where is the collaboration and that was promised?" It was clear at the time, that an excuse of "plausible deniability" was being put in place and comments submitted on Slido as the forum closed showed that many people were upset that questions were not being asked as written.
2, When asked directly about the possibility of staff reductions and layoffs, "D.T." recited the company line of "we have nb plans for layoffs." Remember, this was just 2 days before Bloomberg article published and we now know that plans for staff reductions (through PIP) were already well established.
-
Questions related to the ranking system and why the "NSI" bucket was increased from ~3% to 8-12% were specifically NOT asked of "D.T."
-
For at least one question, "D.T." responded like a petulant child, saying "oh well, it's very easy to write things like that, anonymously on Slido." I think this was a question regarding the organizational structure and why EM had so few managers who actually displayed leadership qualities (when they all call themselves "leaders".
As a further example of how senior managers are completely oblivious to the mood and moral of the general employee population, at another forum (at week or two later), our own VP expressed his disgust at the tone of the Slido questions asked at the President's Forum, saying that they were rude and destructive. Well, d'uh! What did you expect?
