for cisco to make progress in non-engineering orgs you just need to fire two people, the CXO and the COO. both have a talent to conciously destroy everything they touch and create dysfunctional groups but still call this progress. i would also add the CIO to that list but she is just a hire of these two and delivers on their insane plans of destroying a once good company.

Cisco IS firing the wrong people. They also stopped innovating years ago. Now it's all acquisitions just like IBM.
This is another reason why Amazon, Google and other innovators are eating their lunch.
Get LR'ed and find a more successful company to work for.

I think the MPLS $20B is off by 10X. JC spent more like $2B with MPLS and probably worth every penny because they delivered. JC’s mistake was to not model the company after their orgs and structure..Instead JC went boards/ councils and politicians and got a 10X headcount growth in the wrong areas. Then Gary Moore, Rob Lloyd, Wim, Frank C etc. etc. each extracted $100+M from the company and providing nothing Of value but growing the bureaucracy and politicians. Then Chuck, Dedicoat, Kelly, Now Geri and Maria each going to extract $100M-$200M from Cisco while doing nothing but expanding the bureaucracy and politicians while the shareholders and employees hold the bag.
MPLS was long ago. And we handed them sanos to start anyway.
How much was spent on the Andiamo, Nuova and Insieme acquisitions? Chambers spent over $20 billion on switch acquisitions with MPLS alone. Switch products and features that could not be built internally.
No we make the products that matter the most. Switches. The acquisition are always little security companies.
Once great company? We acquire companies and slap a Cisco brand on their products. How are we any different from Staples or Office Depot? We market Cisco as a tech company to Wall Street and customers.
Stroll through the hallways of San Jose. There is ZERO product development or innovation occurring.
Look at what gets pushed by the ELT, "diversity is our strength", "community giveback", "outsource jobs", etc. In other words, 'we want less straight white male engineers'. ER to 50 yo and older? Who are most of these people? Straight white male engineers. Politics over profits, it's the new ELT SJW rage. I took the ER. Good riddance to this clown show. I feel for younger generations.
