Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

How does the pension work when left standing?

If we are still mid career (and not old enough to retire) do we get an option to cash our pension chips?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can take it, but it will be reduced significantly by a percentage for each year you are short of 60. Alternatively you can leave it in until 60 and get the full amount you have accumulated. After age 60, if you are not an employee, then there is no advantage to leaving it in longer.

If you are vested, yes. I left the company for several years, but chose to leave the pension alone. When i came back i was given previous years of service and picked up where i left off.
