Many Managers, VPs and Execs are in charge of departments but know nothing about the jobs or work they oversee. They understand the concept and what THEY NEED TO DO, but don't know what the staff is actually responsible to do. When faced with the unknown, they call employees at home on their days off, vacation or after work. They are useless, yet they recommend who needs to stay or go. They have people working for them that never take vacation, never go to lunch, or are so afraid to lose their job that they go in on the week end without pay or compensation to work on things others should have done. They don't cross train staff, they don't follow-up with team members who have to complete jobs others started. They take it for granted that the work will get done, but at what expense? At the expense of other workers and quality. They let go of older, senior staff and replace them with inexperience VPs who disappear for hours when they work from home or BS'ing in the halls, cafeteria, or bathroom with the excuse they were in a meeting.
