Ok you experts. ATT is not the costliest nor the cheapest wireless service. I can understand why Tmob has the most number of net post paid adds. What I cannot understand is why it seems people prefer VZ over T? Thoughts?

Mobility Services are now a commodity. As additional spectrum and capacity are added; this will be more evident. VZ works practically everywhere. Their customer service stinks as bad as T's. But if you are running a business outside of T's list of 50 MSA's; you will pay the needed extra for their service. T-Mobile's network coverage is almost identical if not slightly better than T's. Their cost is $10-$15 less per month. Most of their consumers are residential which is where the content consumers actually exist. T is inversely positioned in the market for the media products they seek to monetize. Ain't rocket science; unless you are a C-title at T.
Bottom line, Marketing, both Consumer and Business sides of the house. They got complacent, fat and lazy. The typical AT&T top manager expects things to be handed to them. So as we shuffle around chairs on the Titanic, our competitors dance circles around us, because they didn't have CEO's and BOD's like we did, appearing as though they were purposely trying to harm the company, to bring it down from within. Look at Randell's track record, and tell us that wasn't what he actually did. Stankey and his new line up, look like they are doing their best to rise above the ashes and turn things around.
Do you really have to ask why consumers prefer Verizon over AT&T? Because T s—s!!
From the C-suite, to the quality of service or lack of, to customer service in a 3rd world country which you can't understand half the time. Need any more reasons?
Mint Mobile $15 per mo, uses Tmobile Ntwk. Works everywhere. Has American Customer Svc. reps.
Works great.
What is not to like?
Easy answer. AT&T mobility management is horrible, slow, and know little to nothing about deployment of the necessary equipment to cover areas appropriately. Wireline has tried to change that and we have somewhat but wireless refuses to change even when they know they need to. You don’t have to believe me just read the Elliot Management letter.
not only is our coverage bad, but they had a employee sign-up drive several years ago and I went to the person sitting there and said "coverage map shows no signal, is there anything that can be done?" The person, a store employee that was visiting the building, said "we can have someone drive by, maybe we can put a mini cell in your attic or something. Sometimes coverage maps are wrong so they can really check it out." As far as I know, nothing was done, we got no call, about whether there was something that could be done or not.
So if that's how they treated me as an employee, think of how they treat everyone else.
So I have T-mob. Get a signal and pay same price as employee discount would get me.
LOL, that att apologist is amazing, it must be stinky. Hey stinky get off this board, we dont believe anything you say. In my neighborhood , certain places when the leaves are on the trees calls drop consistently. I had ATT then. It works great in Winter.
@1ngg.....oh yeah....I'm fortunate to have fiber Uverse where I live...wifi calling $ux so bad,. Phone will go from full bars to no service & I have to drive several miles to the nearest ATT tower to get a useable signal.( I tried cutting the wifi off & use cell only, I cut the cell off & try to use wifi only...same results...new/different phones as well).
@1xlt.... you're free to come ride w/ me to all of the towers that I provide ILEC service to the base of for all of the carriers....when we get finished counting, VZW will have the most check marks.on the list. "3rd party testing" just means an extra back is getting scratched to produce a desired result.
@1xlt, you seem to think everyone is making it up. Verizon is better where I live as well. I can name plenty of places with poor coverage in my area.
I have called many times about the same below, customer agent went on and on about the mountains and hills and interference she has in West Virginia, well good for you mobility agent of no help, I'm in the middle of Plano TX! I can see the towers from my house, not 1, 2 ,,, SMH
@1vqb....u hit the nail on the head w/ T.....their coverage maps are SEVERELY inaccurate!....they don't have reliable coverage in probably half the areas they show serving., And the high frequency bandwidth is easily k–led when you step inside a building...also the wifi calling sux, missed, dropped calls & text all the time.
I am not an apologist for this management team, but these comments do not reflect reality. AT&T does better than Verizon in third party testing. And it has been doing it consistently. But there is no question that AT&T’s brand takes a hit from questionable investments outside its core area. And the advertising is just flat out terrible.
In short, the AT&T brand is cancer, and people flee it like the plague. No one wants our products and services because we have ended up jerking around all of our customer base. We could give our stuff away for free, and we'd still loose subscribers.
As an employee, I don't even use ATT for mobile service. My house is a dead zone for them, but not for Tmob or VZ. Most people in my neighborhood use VZ. One exception must be guy across street as I see him walking to the street or sitting at his mailbox making phone calls. Probably doesn't get a signal in his house so probably has T
VZ network is the best - period - never knew what a drop out was until I got Tmo - also AZ and ATT are the only wireless that work in Yellowstone

Because it works.....more often than not. VZW has more towers than T and more than TMob/Sprint combined. There are still dead spots everywhere for all carriers, but your best chances of getting a signal in more places(maybe not at your particular house) is with VZW, & thats why many folks don't mind paying extra for VZW.
Verizon really does have the superior network. At least here in south Florida. They have the lower spectrum that penetrates buildings. Att drops to one bar or none when you enter buildings downtown.
interesting, thanks for that response. I was recently surplussed by ATT. I dropped their service even before I was off payroll. I went to Tmob, but where I live their service is terrible including my basement. what is keeping me here is the price. I am over 55 so I sign up for their unlimited over 55 plan. I hope it improves. As for calls over wifi, I had to turn it off as that is lousy. ATT has a great opportunity to put aside Tmob yet they keep squandering it. Oh well. I am out of there, I hope for everyone who is directly affected they get their act together. I expect to start next week someplace else after about 7 weeks of unemployment. I am blessed. it will be 8 weeks from the time I was off payroll to when I start my new "adventure". lol. I will report on my experience after I start.
Verizon or AT&T? Overall, Verizon is the better of the two. you'll get faster speeds most of the time and better customer service coverage, their map coverage is very accurate. AT&T has a ghost network, their map coverages is not accurate, & poor customer service support is beyond terrible. Dont forget about adding fees to your bill whenever they please.
