Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Bleak outlook

I’ve been with the company since January, completed training in Feb and went remote in March. I feel like I didn’t really get a chance to acclimate to the processes before we were required to WFH. Ever since layoffs were announced I’ve just felt so defeated. Logging in everyday honestly fills me with dread. I’ve been trying to apply to as many places as possible in the past weeks but I’m just bummed that everything happened this way. I don’t feel confident about my future with the company. A lot of my teammates are in the same situation as far a short tenure and inconsistent performance and morale is in the toilet.

“Logging In fills me with dread”. You are far from alone. Many are in the same boat they’re just afraid to be open about it less they be targeted for termination for being “negative”. This is while the company puts out messages conveying false concern about mental health and s–c-de awareness. I’ve had coworkers tell me they’ve broken down with panic attacks on Sunday nights. Don’t you dare talk about it though.

If I were a newbie I'd definitely do everything possible to get out asap. At worst, you miss 2 weeks severance, if that.

@dft+16WMkHBX made a very poignant point about gaming the system. I was at Allstate for over 30 years. When new management blood came in from HQ one day to have a meeting with our group, he kept commenting on how long I'd been there. I saw him as a snake oil salesman and something just tapped me that my time was limited. After that, my ratings changed. I was always either a meets or exceeds rating...all of a sudden I'm inconsistent. My direct manager was a real piece of work which didn't help but I stood my ground with everything he picked on. Didn't help. Last September our group was laid off because the great India was taking over. That severance package was the BEST thing that happened to me. I'm in a higher paying job with no pressure...a small family owned business with great people to work with. The newbies should really consider another company. And for those who are tenured, KEEP CONFIDENT...you will be just fine!

Every 2-3 years they’ve laid employees off since 2010. No vision , no direction . Just throwing darts hoping something sticks . India is the new face of the company . Cheap labor .

IMO if your manager is giving you and other new hires inconsistent ratings then they're gaming the system. You're being thrown under the bus to protect others on the team. RUN away, don't look back.

Please leave ASAP. I envy those who have left, that have gotten jobs in something other than the insurance industry.
Allstate is no longer a good place to work. I wish I would have gotten out years ago but now I’m stuck.

Get out while you can. Seriously. Im hoping you'll find something soon cause there's really no point for you to stay. If you get laid off, you're too new to get severance. Maybe you make the cut, but you best believe they are going to make you work twice as hard to make up for the other people that got laid off for the same pay. Im sorry you are going through this, especially dealing with this from home. Allstate used to be a decent place to work and it s—s that you started when you did. Keep your head up until you find something elsewhere.
