Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Lot associates

I just love how everyone is bashing the lot guys for getting a pay raise to 15 a hour, I am not a lot guy and I couldn’t be happier for them those guys are walking miles and miles a day in this heat, humidity, rain, snow whatever the weather is outside they do it... most don’t complain they just do it, yes I agree everyone should have gotten a raise I’m all for that but don’t talk c-ap that lot got a raise but others didn’t or that now they are making as much as you, I want to see some of these people that are talking c-ap about them go out in the lot and work every day and they will see that those guys deserve the money

“To believe me when I say” I’m very grateful working with Sam’s! I don’t have an issue about management talking with me explaining to me! Not someone that is in there for credits and pluses... And yes we can take a couple min break if we need it..

To "I’m a cart guy I just started Sam’s couple weeks ago I’m making 15$ an hour!"

This may come off as being mean. It really isn't meant to be.

Like the rest of us working here, you are only allowed to sit down on breaks. Same as if you worked in a factory, or fast food chain, or many other low paying jobs.

Fifteen an hour may seem like a lot, but it is still a low paying job. And you will find that you will be standing up the entire work day for most poverty level jobs. It's simple. Rich people sit, poor people stand.

Believe me when I say, others complained to Christine or she wouldn't have bothered. It might have been members or other associates, who knows. She took you into the office and gave you an official warning. They have a 90 day probationary period now and they will fire you at the end of the 90 days if the situation doesn't change.

I stand at the register all day. It isn't fun either. I get tired too. Nothing to be done. I should have gone to college, or been a plumber or truck driver or something that doesn't require standing all day, but I didn't. I hope you can do something different with your life.

Anyway, good luck to you.

I have the upmost respect for the very hard working people of the lot!

They help set the mood of the member even before they exit their car. They are the last impression set as the members leave the store, load their car and drive off the parking lot. They are expected to do all the dirty jobs and be nice and accommodating at all times.

If I could hand out the raises, they would be the first and the largest raises given. Each of you deserves much more than you get and you deserve the respect as well. Thanks to each and every one of you. I know that I could never do your job. Thank you!!!!!!!

Carts is the hardest, most physical job at the club. At our club a good worker doesn’t stay on the lot long and are brought inside.

They also have to clean up after all the dirty members throwing there fast food wrappers , all the c-ap they buy inside they open up in the parking lot & leave boxes, oil cans, diapers (used) in most cases. They put up with the homeless there are a lot at our club, and most of them can't put a cart away to save there life. I think they need more than $15.00 an hour because I would not want there job & I have had to push carts before because of a call in ,that was years ago but no thank you not for me... So leave the cart runners alone they do more than some of the floor people on there phones or standing around talking ALWAYS!!!

Out here in California it was 121 degrees outside and not one of our guys reported out that weekend they worked together as a team and got the job done, so yes they deserve the raise, our management makes sure they have a case of Gatorade and water everyday, if you take care of your employees they will show up and do their jobs

Our cart work hard. For the past month they have been working in piss poor air quality due to the fires here in California. It is dangerous for them to be out in that smoke without proper N95 masks.

I’m a cart guy I just started Sam’s couple weeks ago I’m making 15$ an hour! This people complain about the raise, but of course they don’t know how hard it is to be out side dealing with all kind of weather... I’m sure I won’t stay in there long, not because of the job, but this lady name Cristina they have in there, took me to the office and told me I was not allowed to seat down.. I was just getting a couple minutes rest. This person doesn’t have any clue about anything. I just very disappointed being new associate and I have to deal with this kind of c-ap.. So long sams I hope they remove this lady from the front end..... no one likes you

Take my upvote. People always complaining about how a certain job doesn’t deserve a higher pay rate, but they wouldn’t do the job themselves.
