Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Cashierless stores

I was wondering if anyone has heard whether sams club is converting mire stores into cashierless ones. I have predicted that Sams will layoff more employess off the books.

Yes that is the next plan for Sam's Club. We have just been reduced from 12 registers to 6 and increased our self checkouts from 4 to 7. We have been told to promote Scan-n-Go during our shifts. Has anyone else notice a high shrink since SNG and SCO were introduced? With this pandemic crisis, cashierless and cashless stores are the new normal. The Federal Reserve rationed the coins nationwide due to covid and social distancing, forcing debits/cc to be utilized. Stores and people have grown accustomed to this practice. Also a nearly 30 year associate who spent over 20 years in the accounting department, I definitely see this change and will NOT be surprised with the next round of lay-offs to affect the front-end. Because of my experience with the cash office, I have been considered to have job security. My "luck" is running out. For me, the next lay-off could be a blessing in disguise.

It’s the Maine plan at Sams Club that’s why they are pushing more scan n go . It’s the way of the future our stores will be run by at least half of the employees you have right now and 95% will be part timers...Look out it’s going to happen , just a matter of time..Out with the old in with the new...I am a 30+ year employee retiring this year...I was fortunate to meet Sam Walton in person , He’s gone. and so is his beliefs in taking care of it’s employees because they are the most valuable asset in our company...Now it’s just politics and greed from upper management...Thank God I retire this year...

It wont be just Sam's and Walmart, it will be all larger store chains. There will be employees to oversee the process and to override the human mistakes. Cash is on its way out. Our store is getting closer all the time. The current health issues is speeding up the process and is proving that it is workable.

I also think a big portion of our stores will be converted into a hybrid distribution center/pick up center with a small produce-deli-bakery area. It is common sense already in place with other retailers and those who we are in direct competition with.

Amazon is already buying store fronts in malls to do the same thing.

The future is here folks like it or not...
