Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I’ll leave when I’m ready

I am an MR75 and overheard a couple of coworkers discussing how they wished I would be surplused. It amazes me that others feel they have more of a right to remain here than I do. I am not a "dinosaur," as they so eloquently put, I still add more value towards the company than any of them do. And I'm not going anywhere until I decide it's time.

@1heh, really? Your have so little in your life that you will stay until you get paid extra to leave? Why? So you can feel like you got something over on the company? A little win to sooth your ego?

I've still got a couple years before MR75. Nowhere near SS age yet. I may make it; I may not. Doesn't matter. When the time comes to move on, I will... regardless of surplus money or not. No amount of money ever bought another minute of life...and the clock is ticking. You might want to enjoy some of it before the end.

My age/tenure equals 100 and I am eligible for full social security and not going anywhere unless I get an offer to leave! The work is easy, I’m healthy and the money is difficult to walk away from! Besides, I get an additional 8% raise from social security each year I wait to file! T says they need me, so why argue...

Why don't you all f-fade away
And don't try to d-dig what we all s-s-say
I'm not trying to cause a b-big s-s-sensation
I'm just talkin' 'bout my g-g-generation
This is my generation, baby

Come on, man!

Regarding, I’ll leave when I’m ready:

We must emulate our fearless leadership that have been doing the same thing for decades? Look at Ratty, Stinky, Zucher and the Board of Misdirectors. They should have left a decade ago. If they would have, T would still be viable. But no, they hung on and are going to milk it for everything they can take to line their pockets!

So why shouldn't the rest of us be able to stay?

Yup...these folks should have been hired in 1979, then I would be surplussed first. But they were not born yet. Too bad, so sad.
I'll continue to take every holiday week of vaca, work no weekends unless it's OT, dibs on out of town work, the newest bucket truck, and you folks can have what's left over.
But feel free to complain.
Get your Nano degree in b1tching yet?

Anytime the surplus word comes up the knives come out from mediocre co workers who think they know who should leave. There are still plenty of sh– shields to go before the ax gets to me

Why do you want to stay with a company that doesn’t pay enough and they micromanage you??
