Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Age trend in people laid-off?

Did anyone else notice a trend that everyone seems to be over 40? A little ironic considering all the diversity talk lately.

Rumors of the last two sales layoffs were all about reducing cap cost, while realigning span of control.

I was over 50+ when laid off. I was provided with a list of employees and titles (no names) and age.
One was above my age. Few were below mine. They cover their act very well. I got a feeling that they were expecting some back and forth.. I took severance package and found a better job. In this market, give yourself 3+ months to network and go through hiring process. Good Luck!

By law they must give ages of everyone affected. You don’t think Dell HR is dumb enough to make it look like discrimination? It will take a while (like IBM) for the truth to come out.

Bottom line is Dell builds sh– products and nobody wants them anymore...

At least 2 people in our team were in 30’s, still waiting to learn about rest of team. Was not age-related for us.
