Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

A Storytellers Story

After 18 years and happy Nike Storyteller, I can tell you that SH1T is hitting the fan. The culture has deteriorated beyond what I ever thought was possible. Nike was never just paycheck, it was much, much more. "Serve (PK) the athlete (Prefontaine) and company will be great". And it was! Now we serve hundreds of VPs in order to maintain an increasing share price so they can build their 3rd vacation home on some remote island in the South Pacific. WTF? Please, please let the layoffs begin.

Being a storyteller is a volunteer activity. Essentially a campus tour leader.

Now HR will be looking at all the storytellers and pull them in to find out who this post is from. Anyone else thinking the same? If you are a storyteller beware.

Well lets not debate the fact that Story Telling was a paid activity, Corporate Culture should not need a Table of Contents, I thought the Damn Campus was a Totem anyway.

Patton and MaCarthur both led by example, both suffered their bad times, victory was eventually earned. AS it has been here.

McKinsey gets a lot of flack here, so how did they get hired, Consultants are not a new virus, more like a seasonal flu.

When you hire a consultant, you are admitting to the Board of Directors you are flailing or incompetent. To admit " We are missing something", is to admit you are failing.

No runner in a race is allowed to suddenly stop and ask for a substitute to start running the race for them.

Who are the McKInsey Partners in charge, how long have they been there. I did not think Trevor hired them, did Parker bring them in.

Wall Street and Institutions are clearly convinced, that during these difficult times, something is changing for the better in NIKETOWN.

The coming bankruptcy of Over Armored, and the predictable confusion at Three Stripes and your out, are also helping.

Of course, resetting the revenue target from 50 Bil, to 80 bil, as PHK did recently with Lord Coe, was a ballsy thing to do in a Pandemic.

Maybe there is a New Story coming, correcting the record of the old story where it needs to be corrected, perhaps JFS begins re-establishing Jay Bowerman's genius, "Everyone is an Athlete", with "Everyone should become Athletic".

Certainly Everyone may be necessary to get to that 80 bil sales number.

May the New Story unfold quickly enough to restore the hopes and lives of Nike employees, as PHK would want.

I was a Storyteller for a long time. Had to stop because I just didn’t believe in the nonsense anymore. It’s sad to see employees lose passion and drive as the culture changes.
