Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

With frequent layoffs executed, has Dell become extremely off-putting to new talent?

What do you think?

Dell's attitude towards appreciation of talent has gone down. I was in a high visible team and a super visible role. Earned lots of good feedbacks from engineers, peers, clients and team members alike. But higher management was always age old and refused stubbornly to adopt industry's new techniques and trends. I got passed on promotions for suggesting changes in orgs and communication and control.
After 6 months into the job I realized that they needed only people who say "yes" to them and not an innovative leader. I moved on and found another job!!
Dell's stubborn mind set has to change. I dont feel sad for Dell as a company at all!

  • Sorry for people who got affected by the layoffs.

Post ID: @jnu+16YpCkQK That is NOT what is going on with Dell's layoffs, but thanks for playing. I exceeded my 1H Quota 179% and was constantly a top performer on my team. But I was also in the highest salary category (a rank I earned through performance). This was a cost cutting measure and not a way to "Cut dead weight". I knew that put me at risk. Meanwhile, a lot of the loafers are still enjoying their jobs.

Even if not illegal, It is clearly unethical to fire US citizens when you keep all of the visa holders. That too when you fire large number of citizens when every visa holder keeps their job. I am not blaming the visa holders. I worked with many of them. They are wonderful and hard working people. I blame Dell. They created this problem. Shame on management.

You haven't been around long enough. 20 odd years ago I worked for a company that cut the bottom 5% of staff twice a year so that the deadwood could be replaced with new talent. It worked out well, your performance moved you to the bottom and you had no one to blame but yourself.

I was laid off by that company after my division was sold and I hold no ill will or animosity towards the company.
