Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

AppDynamics is not safe

Sales consolidation in not quota roles so they can open recs. Product cuts. Good people ready with other jobs that are going to leave. AppD is no longer innovating and now a corporate machine. The bet on TE helping sales is way off...

You get acquired. Mainline Cisco SEs b–ch and moan about you and your product whilst your shares vest and you work hard trying to teach them about it. In the mean time your share options are not topped up and you have been too busy working to climb the greasy collegiate Cisco pole they spend 90% of their work hours on so there is no chance of a pay or grade raise as these are reserved for them.

A majority of Cisco SEs have Absolutely no interest In learning new skills and executing in new areas. Typically they tell you your product isn’t fit for purpose because some CCIE in their customer who isn’t qualified to talk also does not want to learn new skills. Cisco people don’t want to make new contacts in customers.

So after your shares vest you take your not inconsiderable transferable skills and go elsewhere.

I work here, most of the comments above I did agree with. I am not a millennial, yet many who work here are and most very sharp. I have 32 years in the industry and really enjoy working here. Yea there are problems, challenges but what company does not have them. They are owned by Cisco but run as a separate business and you get the benefits of a big company. Its a fast pace environment which reminds me of many startups I have been at, and a fun place to work at. Yes the Kitchen is a plus.

They don’t plan to integrate aquisitions because they don’t want to mess them up.

Cisco needed AppDynamics revenue for Wall Street earnings. Hide the debt used to acquire AppDynamics and tell Wall Street revenue increased.

I'm kind of shocked how little planning they do for integration after they buy a company. It's like Cisco is addicted to collecting hot names, then has little to no success integrating the people and product. Mind boggling.

Don’t blame Cisco. AppDynamics people were running the show and responsible that group. Many left after their stocks vested.
Cisco paid $3Billion for it, not sure I’d they recovered it ? I doubt it. Founder left within few weeks after it got acquired by cisco. Who is responsible for this?
