Email from WEN today with resources for those participating in R4. Picture of African-American woman with boxing gloves with the title “Are you ready for round 4?” Uhhhh. There is no way I am the only one offended by this. No matter what color I am.

I think they were trying to capture the fighting spirit you have to have at this point in the game to survive and likely weren’t trying to make an adversarial statement. People start doing check boxes when it comes to publications and visual diversity, “oh it’s been a while since X age, or Y hair color, or Z ethnic group was used” because they are trying their best to be inclusive.

I find it funny you know. All that is doing is trying to be Politically and corp correct. All it shows is being company clone really. WEN has no sense of self at all, sold out like most of them
It's trendy/fashionable to be offended nowadays, Taking offense gives people the excuse to rage and rant. It's call OUT rage , Kinda silly really waste of energy directing all that out of ones space. But then again its not easy to focus on oneself and take charge of one's life so much easier to blame others.
Ultimately being easily offended is counter to evolving and growing.
I’m offended. I understand the target audience but still is it appropriate to cast R4 as a hunger games situation? Is this the right time to use any imagery with gender and racial or social undertones. What a tone deaf message.
I really don’t care. It may have been in bad taste but were you really offended?
Sometimes I think people are trying to be offended over everything. If your trying to be offended when someone was clearly not trying to offend, I think your the problem.
I feel like we become more discriminatory in our attempt to not discriminate. Sounds like that email is a mess for a variety of reasons.
