Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Layoffs happened one year agi

So, it’s September 17th now and it’s the one year anniversary of the 2019 layoffs which occurred on Sept 17/18 last year. As one affected, it s—s more now than it did last year since no one knew what Covid would bring and the once booming economy would collapse.
At least I’m using what’s left of my severance pay on a bottle of Jack Daniels today to remember it

I was a casualty of last year’s reduction in force. Today in a much better place now where I feel valued and respected. I don’t miss the dinosaur, entitled, 1970s, insecure, back stabbing type of leadership. My cholesterol, blood pressure, weight, and quality of life has greatly improved since I left Schwab (IT). FU to the IT leadership of that sorry company.

I make about $240 to $250K a year with bonus. Ain't the highest pay, but nothing to sneak at either. Good work and life balance. Been here 20+ years.

Best thing to ever happen to me. Got a new job 2 months and 1 day after lay off. 1 year of a free salary in the bank. Plus, in my new role I make more $$, and realize how underpaid I was at Schwab. Quite honestly... with my skills and experience I should have made 35% more a year at Schwab. So this has been a great thing for me.

Wow. This is just incredible. Unemployment, severance package (up to 10 months upfront), and improved spelling abilities. And it wasn't that long "agi".

It was a long long time "agi". In a galaxy "har" "har" away....

You were subjected to the cruel layoffs of the Empire. It seems so "har" away now. Yet now so long "agi".

Look on the bright side. At least your ability to spell has improved since a year "agi".

At least you can get unemployment for the next 39 weeks or more. Good Luck and keep positive!
