Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

How enthusiastically would you reapply for a job at Chevron?

Oh how times have changed....

If you can focus on your job and ignore (and avoid) the social experimentation, Chevron is a great place to get 10-15 years’ experience, then move on to a job-focused company.

Yes I would apply to return to Chevron. They treated me well and have no grievances with the company. However Chevron needs to refocus on its core business, get rid of the hangers on who contribute little and actually detract from the objective of producing oil. They need a younger generation not corrupted but stupid processes and flavour of the month initiatives.

@dsb- Diversity and REPLACEMENT are at the forefront of everything.

Listen, I applied 5 times, got hired with Chevron on the 6th time. Then, let go a year after my d–g abuse addiction when I refused to work after my wife left me.

@dsb You make it sound like the issues you mentioned are unique to Chevron. I am not defending the deployment of Agile (whatever that means) but many companies out there across all kinds of industries are doing the same, including the other O&G supermajors. They all want the ability to make change quickly in today's environment. Same with diversity and inclusion. I just don't see as many people from other majors complaining as loudly and frequently as the people on the Chevron board.

@wcv Chevron has been a good company for the 30+ years I worked there. I think that's a thing of the past which is why I left. On the people front, it's now a social experiment. Diversity and Inclusion are at the forefront of everything.

On the performance side, they talk a great game but there's no substance behind the words. Go fast.....be agile (you must know and use the buzz words). New processes abound.....but no one knows what they are or how to use them. They came from developing software.

I feel bad because I left a lot of good friends and I think the company is headed downhill fast.

Among the layoff board for the 4 majors, I have to say that the Chevron board has the most number of unhappy people with their jobs, their management, their company and yet Chevron is considered the best-run oil majors by the financial community. Something does not jive.

I would be up for that, Not sure about much enthusiasm, though. What difference does that make? Most people are not that terribly "enthusiastic" about their job to begin with. It usually just happened to be the best job that they could get at the time, with pay & benefits.

With my same micro managing first time Team Lead. I would pass. I am going to try to post out of my current job if the team lead stays the same
