What about a low-level employee who is in their early 60s, Caucasian, with UNDER 4 years remaining before making the 15 year requirement?

Not true, I new people with 25 yrs of service and are in their late 40’s and received the PIP, another that was 55 yrs old and had 10yrs of service and got the PIP. Was also told by a management friend of mine that HR was not allowing the PIP to be obtainable and to make them so hard they will be let go with in 30days. The guy with the 25 yrs of service took the PIP he read through it and it is not even feasible to complete the 1st task. Not to mention task 2&3. The planned cuts are 30% by 2022 for Exxon and have seen documents that show a subsidiary is 40% by 2022. If you are lucky enough to make it past this year. Best keep your nose to the grind stone and keep plugging away so you will be next year’s casualty. Those that took the PIP choose wrong according to a lawyer that was consulted. Another factor I just learned is in the performance review talks . They discuss your age, s-x, and race. To make sure they leave a balance. If you are a middle aged white male in NA, you may want to start looking for Plan B. . This is all a numbers game if you don’t know . 1. Fire anyone that near retirement (must have 15yrs and be 55) so they do have to give you the retirement package 2. Fire those with higher incomes to cut OPEX. 3. Fire the new staff to reduce head count and not allow them to be eligible for pension. 4. Keep the minority staff to appease a balance for affirmative action. Some of you ask why some people were let go. Never thought of demographics

If you were within three years of retirement (whether by age (52) or years of service (15)) you will not be put on a PIP and will be allowed to reach retirement. I heard there was some discussion this rank session that this should be two years, but they decided to keep it three. Next year - who knows.

I will say that if you are in the NSI or NI rank group and you are almost 55, you may survive to vest in your retirement but don’t expect to last any longer.

If in this group we get to tread on thin ice! I’m still worried.

The age group you described is still a protected class. They are not eligible for a PIP
