Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

R3 - EOI question

If I apply for an EOI in R3, and I am notified in early September, how much longer would I need to work at CVX? Can I line up another job, and if so when can I tell my new employer I can start?

The answer to the R3 employee not aware / knowing answers to HR/ EOI is kinda obvious, obviously should not be at that pay grade lol, even my cat can work it out duh, heck i know a R3 who couldn't figure how to share his screen sharing in Teams w/o assistance lol can't make this stuff up, but at this company they don't promote engineers any more, you know those people who actually understand the decisions they are making!

Terminated , then you get an extra 6 weeks deployment pay checks, Remember to not sign the Severance agreement until the 60 days are almost up , that way the likelihood is the severance check is cut in 2021- is almost certain for R4 , not sure about R3, probably not (that's why they gave and extra week to compensate for extra taxes in 2020 tax year, who says they are cheap?)

This is why most employees are cut in November (get checks in 2021, if they are savvy enough to figure it out) and the managers (R1, R2, and R3) who get screwed for taxes in 2020 are still taken care of.

The people that I know who took the Accelerated EOI had their CAI cancelled in about a week which means they were effectively unable to work during the 6 week redeployment. That said, there could be a business need to prolong this if your backfill can’t arrive immediately, it will depend on your job.

Why would you EOI just to go out to find work again? You already have a good paying job with excellent benefits. The no brainer answer is to stay at Chevron or wait to see if you get laid off, don’t voluntarily EOI. The little severance they’ll pay is not worth it during this lousy employment period that will last for two or three years.

You can quit any time you want to once you receive an employment offer from another company. You tell your new employer you can start in 2-4 weeks, maybe earlier. You don't need Chevron's permission to leave and you don't want to make your new employer wait. This is basic common sense, especially in a down market. Is this just about how much money you can squeeze out of Chevron? You may find yourself unemployed if you screw around with this.

How did you rise to a position that would be in R3 and not know how to find you answers directly from HR’s materials?

Why didn’t you do the early EOI. Would have been gone by now.
