That's because XOM paid Google and other ISP's to place any layoff/performance news in the middle of the searches.

Also, very fishy that when I do a quick google for exxonmobil news, nothing about the performance based cuts pops up until the middle of the second page of results...

I agree with the poster below. Both of my group leads (my old and newer supervisors since I switched roles just 4 months ago) were pretty torn up about having to let me go. It says a lot when even the person who ranked you feels terrible.

This made me smile 😃. There is hope that we have some supervisors and managers within the company not effected by this situation taking time and risk to talk with Benji to help shed light on this f&@&ed up situation.

For those that will say get over it it’s what companies do. Every employee is part of the company. We all work hard and want it to succeed. ExxonMobil’s number one asset is its employees we’ve been told! By marginalizing what is happening we are saying it ok and it’s not. I’ve heard from countless supervisors that have said this years review system was broken because of the move to 8% and now finding out exemptions were not allowed makes it even clearer. The system is being used for the wrong reason!

If Dallas decided to keep the sacred divided and lay-off people instead that’s their prerogative. Just call a spade a spade and get it over with and don’t hide behind the performance reporting system, making it into something it wasn’t designed to do. Think about the opportunity to get rid of the 2-3 additional layers of management this company has and doesn’t need.

When Daren in a town hall 2 years ago on campus said the ranking system worked for him and I get paid less than other CEO’s and we need a meritocracy is arrogance. Dallas apparently listed to feedback because they did start to make a change. Unfortunately the change to the system came at probably the worst time. If we don’t seek to change and become better we’ll stay a mediocre company and never make our target goals in the future and will just keep telling ourselves that we can. If you keep telling yourself your the best and no one disagrees you start to believe it. When was the last time we hit our production targets?

Something to think about since we say we are the best. If you invested in ExxonMobil in 2004 you would have made with the dividend only 2.92%. http://stockchoker.com/?s=XOM&d=20040701&a=1000

Now that’s pretty sad.

@yin definitely very shortsighted thinking. This downturn will pass, money will be made again. Everything will be tighter going forward, can't see divided being sustainable in the long run though.

It is the only option they have. Now that borrowed money are used to pay dividends, do you think Exxon can afford to pay severance for 10% of the employees? Be at peace with it. Adios.

Sadly, not making big news nor is it going to make any change to what exxonmobil is doing.
