I wonder if how some employees reacted to Nike’s plan to last year to outsource the daycare to Endeavour caused the sudden closure now that the they had the chance to exit via the reorg. While the outsource solution wasn’t ideal it certainly would have been better than the no daycare at all option. Why not just accelerate the outsourcing? Did the pushback contribute to the decision to close instead? I have heard wdc has been wanting out for years. Did Endeavour back out of the deal? Was it fear of COVID liability? The outsourcing would haVe resolved equity issues with access due to increased capacity.

I paid $31k a year at my highest point for two kids at Nike daycare. Tell me how that’s not solvent??

The daycare jobs have nothing to do with shoe jobs. This was a strategic decision to eliminate a non core operation. The parents paid high tuition. It wasn’t free and should have been self funded. I coughed up 1400 every month right from my paycheck for one child. Yes I was in the waitlist for nine months before getting in. That was typical. Now it’s equitable as everyone can fight for any remaining slots on the open market. Good luck. You are going to need it.
Every daycare job gone is a shoe job saved. Why would daycares back out? They're all going bankrupt these days.
Not sure about how ppl think about equality. Some employees not in WHQ may argue Endeavor won't bring equality either...lol.
It really depends on your position, yes, current enrolled and waitlisted parents (including me) are upset, others probably don't care.
