Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

THANKS to the Posters Here!

Many Thanks to everyone that posted what happens when they RIF you. I got all my paychecks, my benefit info, my 401k info and pension info right off the HR site before I lost my access.

I was ready when I saw HR on a call where they werent invited. I said nothing. I called employment attys but while they saw "a pattern" did I want to give up my 20 weeks severance? Plus give atty 1/3. Got all that done in the week they gave me.

Boss wanted full transition plan, he can find that on my computer that I sent to somewhere HON mandated. Enjoy. She never spoke to me again after "the call" so she can kiss my leaving behind.

I'm not at retirement age, being thrown out during a pandemic is pretty c-appy by a company sitting on $10B in cash. The Big D has big shoes to fill from Cote and so far ...meh.

Thanks to all you posters! I left far better if I hadn't been reading this.

Agree very strongly with sharing this with everyone. No one takes care of each other there officially, because they aren't supposed to. So in any way we can, it is good to know we can at least do something.

The detailed (1-10) RIF Termination Process outlined below was what happened to me too. It may vary slightly from manager to manger and based on the experience level of the HR person, or if you are remote or at a site. When your number is up, it is up! Hopefully you will be able to find new work quickly during this very difficult and challenging time. Best of Luck!

If u r off-site u get FedEx number and told to go mail in company assets, computer, phone, etc. Someone goes to your desk puts everything in a box and u are told where to go pick it up. I was laid off about 4 years ago. It was a Tuesday morning. I was on payroll to end of week, but left Tuesday AM. I was able to send out goodbye emails before leaving. Manager read script to me and HR was a new, nonbadge young employee whose answer to any questions was to call the 1-800 number. Before unlimited vacation policy, I got about $8k for unused vacation. I don't think HON does that anymore. Worked out ok for me then. Outplacement services were worthless.

Based on the sober and thoughtfully expressed sentiments you have posted, I have no doubt that you will land on your feet and carry on with a successful and impactful life. It is refreshing to read something from someone who has undergone a stressful situation and is still able to express themselves in a manner more mature than that of a teenager, as is so often seen on these boards.

I got my meeting notice on a Monday afternoon for a Tuesday morning meeting. By that time so many people got the same meeting we all knew what it was.
Had the meeting in the AM, was done when I left the building. No escort or anything. Free to roam the building to say goodbyes, send out farewell email, and pack everything up.
Turned badge and keys in at the guard desk on my last walk out.

Process list below is not what happens for everyone. I know for a fact I've been a manager laying off and been laid off recently.

Honeywell RIF or Termination process is very quick, controlled and very scripted once it starts:

  1. Manager schedules and sends 30 minute mandatory meeting notice
  2. HR blind copied on meeting notice
  3. HR listens in and may record conversation to document conversation and make sure Manager follows the process
  4. Standard RIF script read by manager along with terms and conditions
  5. You are ask if you have any questions
  6. Given tissues if required and a minute to compose yourself
  7. Release Paperwork provided or mailed for you to review, sign and return within 30 days to receive severance
  8. If you are in the office you are given a box and about 1-2 minutes to collect your personal items, they take all your company supplied property (ie. computer, printers/scanners, cell phone, security badge, company keys if any provided, all other company property, etc.) if you are remote they send you a Fedex box that day to ship back all of the above company property next day air
  9. Immediately escorted out the door and off the property. (Note: coworkers may be watching from their desk or in the halls as you carrying your box of things and being escorted out and off the property)
  10. This all takes place in less than 30-minutes. * YOU ARE GONE!

Recommend that everyone share this site with coworkers. It is important that all your coworkers and friends at work are aware of this site, so they too can contribute to the collective knowledge base, of exactly what is occurring at Honeywell and how it may effect them and help them be better prepared for layoffs and the negative consequences and risk to themselves and their families.

Share This Site with all your Coworkers and friends
